摘要: A manufacturer's in-house server receives serial numbers from BD players, and transmits the received serial numbers to an SCM server. The SCM server collates the serial numbers into a control table, and transmits information to the manufacturer's in-house server such as information showing which dispatch destination and sales outlet each BD player passed through before being installed in a user's home (i.e., distribution information). In accordance with the collated control table, the manufacturer's in-house server then transmits flags that are used to make settings appropriate to each BD player. Each BD player then alters its own settings in accordance with its received flag. For example, a setting may be made to start up an application for an information delivery service (i.e., a delivery service for contents such as moving pictures and the like) that the BD player is to be connected to.

摘要: An optical disk image drawing method includes: rotating the optical disk by a spindle motor; reading a predetermined information recorded on a track of a data recording layer; detecting a predetermined position on the track based on the read predetermined information; measuring a position of the spindle motor in a rotating direction using the detected predetermined position as a reference position; changing a focus position of the laser beam to the image drawing layer; starting forming the visible image on the image drawing layer from a predetermined position of the spindle motor in the rotating direction relative to the reference position based on the measured position of the spindle motor in the rotating direction; and sequentially moving an optical pick-up in the radial direction synchronously with the rotation of the spindle motor to proceed to form the visible image.

摘要: When “buffer under run” (BUR) occurs during recording of a visible image on an optical disk, recording operation is interrupted. As in the case of type A, when BUR1 occurs after data have been transferred through an integral multiple of one revolution, data are recorded continuously from a reference angle position without host device discarding data. As in the case of type B, when BUR2 occurs after data have been transferred in a value which is other than the integral multiple of one revolution, data corresponding to a duration from the position where BUR occurs to the start of the next revolution are discarded, data are continuously recorded from the reference angle position. Thereby, rendering can be spliced in a visually-smooth manner. Further, as in the case of type C, when the volume of data remaining in a buffer has become equal to or less than a “buffer under run” threshold value, subsequent transfer of data from the host device may be interrupted, and rendering may be resumed without the host device discarding data.

摘要: In an optical disk recording apparatus, a monitor monitors a recording power of a laser light. A laser control circuit enables a laser diode to perform test recording while using the monitor to monitor the recording power of the laser light and while controlling a laser drive voltage, so that the monitored recording power reaches a given reference value during the test recording. A voltage measurement section measures the laser drive voltage when the recording power of the laser light reaches the reference value. A calculation section calculates an initial laser drive voltage from the reference value of the recording power and the measured laser drive voltage corresponding to the reference value. A main controller allows the laser control circuit to set the calculated initial laser drive voltage and to start the recording while supplying the laser control circuit with the target value so that an actual recording power of the laser light promptly reaches the target value during the course of the recording.
