    摘要: A control server initiates a call to a first device. After creating a connection to the device, the control server reverses the direction of the message flow between the device and the control server such that the device becomes the initiator of the call (the caller) and the control server becomes the device that is called (the callee). A connection is also established between the first device, the control server and a second device that is an endpoint for the call. Early media and forking is available to the first device after reversing the direction of the message flow between the first device and the control server and the callee has been contacted. Additionally, information flows between the first device and the second device through the control server as if the first device and the second device were directly connected.

    摘要: A computing device executes a client-side instance of an application that supports bi-directional real-time synchronous communication and real-time asynchronous communication with a server computing device by way of an application programming interface (API) that conforms to representative state transfer (RESTlike) design principles. An eventing framework on the server computing device is used to aggregate updates to resources on the server that are requested by the client computing device, and is further used to transmit metadata to the client computing device that indicates which updates are available. Real-time sensitive updates are included in the metadata, and the client computing device can decide when and how to retrieve other available updates. An asynchronous operation is modeled on the server computing device by an operation resource that can modify other resources on the server computing device and cause updates regarding status of the operation to be sent to the client computing device.

A communication group of communication methods may include multiple communication methods belonging to one individual or to multiple individuals within the communication group, such as a family. The universal phone number may be designated as the primary contact number for the communication group such incoming phone calls and text messages may be automatically routed to the communication methods in the communication group. The universal phone number may provide alerts to the multiple communication methods for notifying when incoming phone calls are answered. A universal voicemail box may also be provided for a scenario when the incoming call is not answered. Additionally, the universal phone number may provide the ability to keep the contact information for each of the individual communication methods private.
