Abstract:
A method for power management for use in system selection by simultaneous receivers taking into account power use during an idle state. A power penalty is determined for each of a plurality of wireless technology systems available to a receiver when conducting page monitoring sequences. Combined power penalties are determined for various combinations of wireless technology systems. Wireless technology systems are selected in a preferred combination having a least combined power penalty for monitoring pages during an idle mode.

Abstract:
A system and method for supporting handovers between different radio access technologies is provided. A method for communications device operations includes sending a request to a controller of the communications device to change an operating mode of the communications device, and receiving a transmission responsive to the request. The method also includes in response to determining that the controller has granted the request to change the operating mode and that the communications device is operating in a border cell, changing the operating mode of the communications device, tuning at least one receiver of the communications device to an alternate radio access technology (RAT), and initiating a handover with the alternate RAT.
Abstract:
A system and method for enhanced parallel receiving interworking in a wireless communications network. A method for controller operation where the controller serves a communications device having at least two receivers includes detecting that the communications device has at least one receiver tuned to a current radio access technology (RAT) and at least one receiver tuned to an alternate RAT, adjusting a network parameter to alter the communication network's performance, and readjusting the network parameter back to its original value in response to determining that the communications device no longer has any receiver tuned to the alternate RAT. The adjusted network parameter impacts only the communications device.

Abstract:
A method for controlling communications traffic on an inter-access-network link includes receiving a request for transmission of a traffic flow and determining a priority queue associated with the traffic flow. If the priority queue corresponds to the one of a first plurality of priority levels, the method further includes determining whether one or more predetermined criteria for the traffic flow are satisfied. If yes, the method additionally admitting the traffic flow, storing information associated with the traffic flow in the queue, and transmitting information associated with the traffic flow from the queue based on at least a strict priority process. If the queue corresponds to the one of a second plurality of priority levels, the method further admitting the traffic flow, storing information associated with the traffic flow in the queue, and transmitting information associated with the traffic flow from the queue based on at least an arbitrated priority process.
