摘要:
A method for producing baseballs and softballs, whereby a spherical core is independently formed and then a fiber material layer is attached, this fiber material layer is evenly brushed with a layer of polyurethane (PU), and this spherical core is placed in a ball cover mold made up of two or more mold pieces, and then heated, and finally the mold is removed to reveal the complete ball. Utilizing the production tool of this invention to produce the baseballs and softballs, whereby PU is brushed onto, and penetrates into the fiber material layer on the independently formed spherical core, resulting in the ball cover forming, the ball cover and spherical core attaches and fits firmly, and the porous construction of this fiber material layer attracts air, and therefore greatly avoids bubbles forming when the outer cover is formed, which affects the quality and lifespan of the ball.

A mold for shaping a baseball or softball is constructed from two identical figure of 8 shaped mold pieces which correspond to an outside shape of a ball. The two mold pieces are made from flexible materials such as rubber, silicone or plastic resin, fit onto each other to form the outside shape of the ball. Joining areas of the two mold pieces have joining edges, and on inside sides of the joining edges on interior surfaces of the two mold pieces grooves are set which form a raised sewn section on a surface of the ball cover, and a material inlet and air outlet are formed where the two mold pieces join.

A tool for producing baseballs and softballs, whereby a spherical core is independently formed and then a fiber material layer is attached, this fiber material layer is evenly brushed with a layer of PU, and this spherical core is placed in a ball cover mold made up of two or more mold pieces, and then put aside or heated, and finally the mold is removed to reveal the complete ball.

In a structure of a ball cover of a baseball or softball, the ball cover is manufactured from PU material, and the ball cover is one unit from the ball core to the outside of the ball, and a raised sewn section is formed thereon, and the raised sewn section is situated along the mold line on the surface of the ball cover. The PU material is used to replace leather in the manufacture of the ball cover, thereby reducing material costs. Utilizing a mold to directly form the ball cover, and a mechanized production process effectively increases the production rate and reduces worker costs; moreover mechanized production ensures uniformity of the ball, thereby producing balls with precise standards of pressure resistance and bounce values and so on; a ball cover directly formed as one unit and with good overall surface qualities makes it hard for the ball core to be soaked and the sewn section to break, therefore it's extremely waterproof and the outside environment has little effect on the ball, moreover PU material overall displays better durability and resistance qualities than leather, thereby effectively increasing the lifespan of the ball.

A kind of baseball and softball shaping mold and shaping method thereof, firstly according to the outside shape of the ball, two figure of 8 shaped soft pieces are manufactured and fit together to make a mold cavity, and on the inside sides along where the two soft pieces join, grooves are set which forms the raised sewn section which appears on the surface of the softball or baseball. An inlet is set where the seams of two soft pieces join, and fluid PU material is poured into the center of the cavity through the inlet, partially filling the cavity. Thereafter the inlet is plugged, and the mold is shaken to allow the PU material to be evenly distributed and harden on the inside walls of the cavity, which forms the ball cover of the ball, and at the same time, an accommodating space for the ball core is formed in the cavity of the ball cover. Thereafter the plug in the inlet is removed and core material is injected through the inlet into the interior cavity which hardens, thereby completing the shape and formation of the outer cover of the ball and the ball core. Finally, the mold is removed, and the outward appearance of the ball is trimmed. Using this simple method for manufacturing balls, with the additional benefit of having a simplified manufacturing process, greatly increases the production rate of softballs and baseballs: this method for first forming the ball cover, then the ball core, results in better integrated and tighter fitting baseballs and softballs, thereby ensuring better physical properties and characteristics of the ball.

A production method for forming a baseball and softball cover whereby a ball core is one of any exiting baseball and softball cores built independently. An even layer of fibrous material in an elected thickness is affixed onto the ball core and liquid Polyurethane is applied to fully impregnate the fibrous material layer. The soaked ball core is then placed into a soft or flexible figure-8 ball cover shaping mold before it is locked in a metal mold holder. Heating and curing occur and the molds are removed to reveal a finished ball, of which the Polyurethane ball cover embedded with fibrous material becomes an integral part, while it simultaneously bonds itself firmly with the ball core in the molding process. The finished ball consequently acquires a molded one-piece ball cover with an even thickness throughout for added durability and integrity for performance.

An automatic inside mold coloring method for stitches on a cover of a molded baseball or softball includes steps of: forming a ball core; placing a fiber layer around the ball core, infusing a liquid Polyurethane material into the fiber layer; attaching and aligning a masking jig onto inner side of the ball cover mold having multiple stitch-shape grooves to expose stitch-shape grooves while covering the rest of inner side of the ball cover mold; applying or spraying a coloring material onto said masking jig to fill the coloring material in the stitch-shape grooves; removing the masking jig from the ball cover mold; placing the ball core inside the ball cover mold and then in a metal mold holder; heating up the ball cover mold to cure the ball core; and removing a finished ball from the ball cover mold and the metal mold holder.

In a baseball or softball shaping method and mold for a ball cover, firstly the ball core is independently formed, thereafter the ball core is placed in the mold cavity of the mold, this mold being constructed from two corresponding figure of 8 shaped soft mold pieces, a joining surface formed where the two mold pieces dock together, and on the inside side of the joining surface, grooves are set to form the raised sewn section on the ball cover and protrusions extend towards the cavity interior for supporting and positioning the ball core, and a material inlet and air outlets set where the two mold pieces join, finally PU material is injected around the ball core placed in the cavity of the ball cover mold to cover the ball core and form the complete ball. Using this invention to produce balls, allows for easy formation of the balls, simplified additional work procedures, greatly increasing the production rate of baseballs and softballs, additionally, utilizing protruding supports to position the ball core followed by forming of the ball cover, together with the air outlets set on the mold, effectively ensures uniform thickness of the ball cover and uniform surface qualities, with precise control over the standards of the ball, for example the pressure resistance values and bounce values, thereby guaranteeing the physical properties of the ball.

A ball cover shaping mold of a baseball or softball is constructed from two corresponding figure of 8 shaped mold pieces. These two mold pieces fit together to form a mold of the outside of the ball cover of a softball or baseball, and these two mold pieces are constructed from a soft material. Where these two mold pieces join are the seams, and on the inside side of the seams, grooves are set to form the raised sewn section on the ball cover, and an material inlet and an air outlet is situated where these two pieces join. PU material is used in the mold to construct the ball cover. The soft mold pieces are easy to remove and moreover, the grooves set on the inside seams of the figure of 8 shaped mold pieces form the raised sewn section on the outside of the ball cover where the two mold pieces join, thereby fulfilling the required outside appearance of the ball. The raised sewn section is situated along the mold lines, eliminating the need to further repair and trim the ball to achieve the required outside appearance of the ball, this structure of the mold being simple, and meticulously designed, therefore allowing for easy formation of the ball cover, and additional work procedures are simplified, hugely increasing the production rate of baseballs and softballs, and thereby raising the competitiveness of the product on the market.
