    摘要: Method and apparatus for blind docking an electronic device or module with an electrical connector, for example within a rack for a computer system. A forwardly-directed power connector is secured to a distal end of at least one rail or shelf bracket for blind docking with a rearwardly-directed power connector on the electronic module. The shelf bracket securing the forwardly-directed electrical connector is included in a pair of longitudinally-extending shelf brackets secured to opposing vertical side walls of a rack at a common elevation to form a module bay. The electronic module may slide along the shelf bracket until a rearwardly-directed power connector of the electronic module blind docks with the forwardly-directed power connector. A boss or alignment stud may be included on the bracket to improve alignment of the connectors. The forwardly-direct electrical connector may also be secured to the bracket with a floating connection to enable minor adjustments in alignment during blind docking.

    摘要: One embodiment provides an air baffle assembly for controlling airflow through a cable opening in a rack. The rack is configured for removably supporting a plurality of modular electronic components. The cable opening on the rack receives a plurality of cables connected to the modular electronic components. The air baffle assembly includes a track secured to the rack adjacent to the cable opening and an air baffle movably supported on the track over the cable opening. The track includes a rail guideway. The air baffle includes at least a flexible first rail movably received by the first rail guideway. The first rail flares laterally along a range of engagement of the first rail with the first rail guideway, to bias the air baffle in one longitudinal direction.

    摘要: A rack for supporting electronic devices and modules with adjustable rails. The rack has a vertical wall with a set of holes at various elevations, each set of holes including at least a proximal hole evenly spaced apart from a distal hole. A longitudinally-extending rail has a set of clips for selectively securing the rail to the vertical wall, wherein the set of clips includes at least a proximal clip selectively receivable in the proximal hole at a selected elevation for supporting a proximal end of the rail and a distal clip selectively receivable in the distal hole at the selected elevation for supporting a distal end of the rail. The system may include a second rail for securing to an opposing vertical wall of the rack to form a shelf or bay for an electronic device. Each rail may be latched in place and can be selectively installed and removed without use of tools.

    摘要: An assembly and associated installation method for a server or other electronic equipment enclosure installable into a rack by a single person without adverse tolerance stack-up problems. A mounting bracket is attached to each end of a sliding rail coupled to the server or other equipment enclosure. The mounting bracket includes pins which are inserted into mounting apertures in the posts of the rack to temporarily retain and hold the sliding rail in the rack. Subsequently, a single user can then insert screws or other mechanical fasteners to securely attach the mounting bracket and sliding rail coupled thereto to the rack. The mounting bracket is fixedly secured to the rack and the sliding rail is permitted to move, translate or pivot relative to the mounting bracket to account for tolerance stack-up issues or other abnormalities in the dimensional fit between the server and rack system. The design of the mounting bracket inhibits appreciable vertical translation of the sliding rail thereby providing for proper clearance for the rack space below.

    摘要: An enclosure and method for enclosing electronic devices. The enclosure includes channel-shaped members that each have a convex side and a concave side. The enclosure further includes a substantially planar outer surface and an attachment device for attaching the substantially planar outer shell to the concave side of the channel-shaped member such that a rigid, enclosed, substantially tubular structural member is formed, thereby forming a rigid chassis. Additionally, the attachment device includes a trench-shaped member, attached to said substantially planar outer shell, and located between the channel-shaped member and the substantially planar outer shell. The trench-shaped member also includes a fixed device for temporarily fixing the trench-shaped member to the concave side of the channel-shaped member. The enclosure includes four channel-shaped members, such that each channel-shaped member includes a corner post positioned within the enclosure apparatus to form a substantially rectangular structure. In addition, each trench-shaped member includes a stiffener hat section. The substantially planar outer shell includes a removable side cover assembly that has an outer surface and an inner surface, such that the stiffener hat section is affixed to the inner surface and received in an open channel of the corner post.

    摘要: A cooling system for a host device affords enhanced reliability using multiple blower units mounted in parallel between a low pressure plenum and a high pressure plenum and a control system that senses when a blower unit is failing or has failed and responds by shutting down the failed unit and increasing the speed of the remaining blowers to maintain the air flow volume delivered to the cooling path. To maintain the integrity of the cooling air path while affording continuous operation of the host device, a spring biased closure door seals the access opening through which the blower is mounted when a blower unit is removed and displaced by the blower unit to an inoperative position against the biasing force of the spring when the blower unit is installed or replaced. To prevent recirculation through a vacated blower unit mounting space, a one way air flow device, in the form of a shutter assembly including plural pivoting louvers or vanes is mounted at the exhaust location of each blower. Thus the cooling air delivery is maintained and a blower unit can be removed for maintenance or replacement without interruption or impairment of host device operation.
