    Abstract: Apparatus and method for recognizing Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) signals are provided. The solution comprises obtaining as an input a sampled signal; determining the 8th order moment for a group of samples of the input signal corresponding to the length of one or two frames of a GSM signal; determining peak to average power and peak to average power variance for the group of samples of the input signal corresponding to the length of one or two frames of a GSM signal; comparing the obtained 8th order moment to predetermined thresholds and the obtained peak to average power and peak to average power variance to predetermined thresholds; determining whether the input signal is a GSM-type signal on the basis of the comparisons.

    Abstract: A method a system for receiving signals from plural frequency bands and plural communication protocols. An interchangeable radio frequency (“RF”) front end may receive RF signals from plural frequency bands and plural communication protocols. Intermediate frequency (“IF”) circuitry may produce one or more common IF signals from the received RF signals. A common digital back end may then receive digitized versions of the IF signals, modify IF signal bandwidth as a function of the plural communication protocols, and process plural received signals without knowledge of the underlying communication protocols.

    Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention employ a modular room including a plurality of modular room components (e.g., anchor assemblies, upright assemblies, etc.). These anchor assemblies and upright assemblies can take different forms permitting assembly of a modular room or modular structure in different manners, and in some cases provide for interchangeable interior and exterior wall panels and components. In some embodiments, a bracket assembly is coupled to an substantially vertical elongated upright for improved strength and stability. Preferably, the anchor assembly has a base plate with at least one edge at an angle with respect to the rest of the base plate for additional strength. If desired, the vertical position of the upright with respect to the base plate can be adjusted. In some embodiments, one or more overhead trusses are used to stabilize the walls of a modular room.

    Abstract: A conduit coupling device for joining conduits including a lock ring, a lock nut and a body, the body have an end adapted to receive the lock nut and the lock ring. The lock ring has an anti-shear and pull-out resisting construction adapted for resisting lock ring shear and conduit pull-out. The lock nut is adapted to receive the lock ring and compress the lock ring onto the conduit as the lock nut is received by the body end. The lock ring has proximal and distal ends with a bore being adapted to receive the conduit said bore having an inner surface with an inner liner bonded to the inner surface of the bore. The anti-shear and pull-out resistant construction may include the inner liner having sawtooth ridges or grit particles to help resist lock ring shear and conduit pull-out and convert the conduit pull-out force to a shear force. In addition, the lock ring may include an annular flared rim forming an annular, concave shear engagement surface. Alternatively, the anti-shear and pull-out resistant construction may include an annular receiver located in either the lock ring or the conduit and a stop ring received by the annular receiver.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for recognizing Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) signals are provided. The solution comprises obtaining position and timing information from a satellite positioning system; tuning to a frequency channel with GSM transmission; collecting a group of I/Q samples for the length of 12 GSM frames; performing peak detection using at least two peak detectors over the group of samples wherein the found peak values are the locations of synchronization bursts (SCH). For the found peaks, the timing information, carrier-to-noise ratio, in phase and quadrature values are determined. A group of I/Q samples for the length of 12 or 51 GSM frames are collected. From the found SCH, base station identification code BSIC, frame number and Broadcast Control Channel (BCCH) training sequence are determined. BCCHs corresponding to all SCH are decoded; and transmitting base stations identified.
