摘要： A playback head for use with a record disc containing grooves whose walls undulate to constitute a spatial representation of the time variation of a signal to be reproduced, the head including a stylus carried so as to engage in the groove and elastically deform the groove walls to a substantial degree, the playback head also having a transducer arranged to produce an output proportional to the reaction force exerted on the stylus by the elastically deformed groove walls, the transducer being a thickness compression vibrator having a dimension in the direction of the reaction force which is less than one-half the wavelength of a mechanical oscillation produced in the transducer for the upper limit frequency of the frequency range to be reproduced.

摘要： An automatic system for the insertion into, and removal from, a playback device of a record carrier normally stored in a protective cover, by transporting the protective cover to a playback surface of the playback device in such a manner that the record carrier moves out of the protective cover for playback, centering the record carrier with respect to the playback surface, and opening of the protective cover for reinserting the record carrier therein and removing the protective cover from the playback device. The protective cover includes a top and bottom wall and is open along one edge for the introduction and removal of a record carrier and is provided with a recess in one of the walls for the passage of record carrier supporting structure. The recess terminates at the open edge of the cover. Portions of the walls are flexible such that when the walls are oriented horizontally, the wall portions adjacent the open edge are displaced into an open position at least at their center portion due to gravity forces acting on the lower wall when the adjacent part of the upper wall is supported.

摘要： A playback circuit for a color television signal wherein the color signals cover a first lower frequency range of the total video bandwidth and appear as three sequential signals each one horizontal picture line in duration and each corresponding to one of the basic colors. The playback circuit has a first signal channel for the processing of the sequential color signals in this first frequency range and a second signal channel responsive to the video signals in a second frequency range which includes the first frequency range. The first signal channel includes a circuit, including a memory, at whose output the sequential signals are simultaneously made available. A circuit is provided for deriving a difference signal from the simultaneously available color signals and the instantaneous sequential input signal to the memory and this difference signal is added to the signal in the second signal channel to cancel out signal differences between three consecutive lines which depend on the color information in the first frequency range.

摘要： An improved recording carrier of the type wherein the signals are recorded in the form of depressable raised portions of the surface thereof which are played back by means of pressure scanning and which has a signal recorded thereon which results in variable heights for the raised portions along the scanning path corresponding to an envelope function of the recorded signal. The raised portions are such that the distances of the base planes thereof from a reference plane disposed perpendicular to the extent of the heights of the raised portions along the scanning path vary according to one of the envelope functions of the recorded signal while the peaks of the raised portions lie substantially in a single peak plane which is parallel to the reference plane. A number of alternative methods for modifying the signal to be recorded so as to produce the desired record are also disclosed.
