Abstract:
In accordance with embodiments of this disclosure, a computational simulation platform comprises a computer-implemented method that includes: generating a mesh or meshless three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of a vessel lumen and a surface of the vessel lumen based on invasive or non-invasive imaging; assigning material properties to the 3D reconstructed surface of the vessel lumen based on the invasive or non-invasive imaging; performing balloon pre-dilation, stenting and balloon post-dilation computational simulations with the 3D reconstructed vessel lumen and surface of the vessel lumen; and assessing stent and vessel morphometric and biomechanical measures based on the computational simulations.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a non-human animal having human interleukin-34 (IL-34) in the body thereof; a method for producing a non-human animal having human microglia, which includes transplanting human CD34-positive hematopoietic stem cells into the non-human animal having human IL-34 in the body; and a method for producing human microglia, which includes obtaining human microglia from the non-human animal having human microglia.
Abstract:
A method and system for reducing the concentration of nitrogen-bound nitrate from at least one of groundwater, surface water, or waste water is disclosed. The system includes an algal photobioreactor system. The photobioreactor includes a transparent tubular structure, a medium disposed inside the transparent tubular structure, and alga configured to adhere to the medium. The photobioreactor further includes a pump, and a light source. The method includes providing contaminant-containing water, adding the water to the algal photobioreactor system, adjusting at least one of temperature, ion concentration, CO2 concentration, pH, light wavelength, ion concentration or light intensity in the algal photobioreactor system to enhance growth of algae, removing water from the algal photobioreactor system, and harvesting the algal biomass. A system and method are also disclosed for reducing the concentration of organophosphates from water via an organophosphate-removing alga.
Abstract:
This disclosure concerns nucleic acid molecules and methods of use thereof for control of hemipteran pests through RNA interference-mediated inhibition of target coding and transcribed non-coding sequences in hemipteran pests. The disclosure also concerns methods for making transgenic plants that express nucleic acid molecules useful for the control of hemipteran pests, and the plant cells and plants obtained thereby.

Abstract:
A computer-implemented method of preparing a set of differentially informative methylated positions (DIMPs) or differentially informative methylated regions (DIMRs) from a sample methylome of an animal or plant having a phenotypic characteristic different from a wild-type of the same species of animal or plant, and the characteristic is associate with differences in methylation of the genome, comprises: providing a computer with the sample methylome, and a reference methylome of the wild-type of the same species of animal or plant; calculating with the computer a divergence between a plurality of cytosine positions of the sample methylome and the reference methylome; and selecting with the computer a set of DIMPs or DIMRs. Each DIMP or DIMR is selected based on an approximation of the energy required to produce the divergence between methylation levels of the plurality of cytosine positions of the sample methylome as compared to the wild-type methylome.
Abstract:
At least one example embodiment discloses a method of estimating a position of a rotor in a motor. The method includes obtaining a current regulation quality index based on a current command and a measured current, determining an estimated position of the rotor based on the current regulation quality index and position estimation data and controlling the motor based on the estimated position of the rotor.
