摘要： A processing unit executes at least one of a task of a radio tuner, a task of a television tuner, a task of a playback control unit for playback of stored image and sound, a task of an indication unit for indicating image according to image data, a task of a navigation unit for detecting a present position and indicating the detected position on a map, and a task of a route search unit for searching for a route and indicating the searched route on the map, in accordance with a predetermined priority. When execution of multiple tasks by the processing unit exceeds processing performance of the processing unit, a processing suspension unit suspends a task, which satisfies a predetermined condition, among the multiple tasks currently executed by the processing unit, irrespective of a priority of the task.

摘要： The present invention provides a navigation apparatus capable of distinguishing characters displayed in a display screen. Names of objects to be displayed on a road map are respectively indicated with the characters of the font types corresponding to categories of the objects such as an administrative district, a facility, a natural feature and so on. Accordingly, a user of the navigation apparatus can readily distinguish and recognize the characters showing the various kinds of the objects.

摘要： When an elevated road and a usual fly-under road are located in a stacked state, two roads are shown in overlapped lines on a display unit of a car navigation system in a subject vehicle. When the subject vehicle travels the fly-under road, the elevated road is shown in a translucent state. Thus, a user of the subject vehicle can recognize a state of the fly-under road the subject vehicle is traveling. In contrast, when the subject vehicle travels the elevated road, the elevated road is shown in a non-translucent state. The elevated road thereby becomes easy to see, so its advancing direction can be easily seen.

摘要： A map display device, which imparts a perspective feeling to a route guidance line so that it can be easily viewed, when buildings and roads are three-dimensionally displayed. A map display device having a control unit for three-dimensionally displaying a map and further three-dimensionally displaying a route guidance line on a road on the map. When the route guidance line is hidden by a building, the control unit displays overlapped portion of the route guidance line in a color different from the color of the portions that are not overlapping. In particular, the control unit draws picture by a semitransparent method in which the color displaying the route guidance line and the color displaying the building are alternately changing with a pixel as a unit on the video RAM (VRAM). In this case, a positional relationship becomes clear between the route guidance line and the building, and the route guidance line can be seen more clearly.
