摘要: An electrostatic ink-jet head (1) in which the present invention is applied comprises a pressure chamber (6) communicating with an ink nozzle (21), and an atmospheric pressure chamber (12) opened to the atmosphere, with a vibrating plate (5) being provided on the base plane of the pressure chamber (6). Voltage applied between the vibrating plate (5) and an electrode (43) causes the vibrating plate (5) to vibrate due to electrostatic force, thereby discharging ink droplets. A vibrating chamber (41) communicates with a pressure compensating chamber (49), and a displacement plate (16) capable of being displaced in the direction outward from the plane according to fluctuations in the external, atmospheric pressure is formed at the base plane of the pressure compensating chamber (49). Displacement of the displacement plate (16) increases/decreases the volume of the pressure compensating chamber (49), and the internal pressure of the vibrating chambers (41) communicating thereof is adjusted to match the external atmospheric pressure. Accordingly, the vibration properties of the vibrating plate (5) can be maintained constant even when the external atmospheric pressure fluctuates, and proper ink droplet discharging action can be maintained.

摘要: When a nozzle 21 with a stepwise cross-section, which is provided with a small cross-sectional nozzle portion 21a formed on the front side thereof and with a large cross-sectional nozzle portion 21b formed on the rear side thereof in a discharge direction, respectively, is formed by applying etching to a silicon wafer 200 for forming a nozzle plate 2, a resist film 210 is formed on a surface 200a of the silicon wafer 200, and patterning by half-etching and patterning by full-etching is applied to the resist film 210. Next, anisotropic-dry-etching is applied to the silicon wafer 200 by ICP discharge, thereby forming grooves at the full-etched portions. Next, the resist film at the half-etched portions is removed and anisotropic-dry-etching is applied to the portions from which the resist film is removed by ICP discharge. As a result, there can be simply formed on a monocrystalline silicon substrate an ink nozzle having a stepwise cross-section and further having an action, which is larger than that of a conventional ink nozzle, for aligning the directions of pressures applied from cavities to nozzles in a nozzle axis direction.

摘要: A plurality of inclined planes (1419) are formed in the same substrate (1406) and a polarizing optical thin film is provided on these inclined planes. These inclined planes are filled with a transparent material so as to form a small sized and complexed polarizer. This polarizer is excellent in transmission ratio and in extinction ratio. With this polarizer, it is possible to detect a magneto-optical signal with a high signal-to-noise ratio. This polarizer is used as a cover of a package (1408) of an optical head in which a light receiving device (1410, 1411) and a light emitting device (1409) are contained in the form of a single piece. There is also provided an optical element capable of adjusting optical paths so that the optical length of a returning optical beam may be different from the optical length of a forward optical beam. With this optical element, it becomes possible to delete the initial offset in a focusing error signal, and thus adjustment process becomes unnecessary. With these arrangements, it is possible to achieve the size reduction, simplification, and improvement of performance associated with an optical head for use in a magneto-optical recording/reproducing device.

摘要: An integrally-driven type optical head (1) in which a laser optical system (20) provided with a semiconductor laser (22) and a light receiving device is mounted in a moving part of an actuator (50). In this optical head, the moving part (5) is constituted by uniting a heat radiator (10) made of a metal or the like with a heat insulator (9) made of a plastic or the like. The heat conduction bonding of the heat radiator to the semiconductor laser is performed. A coil of the actuator is securely fixed to this heat radiator through the heat insulator. Thereby, heat generated from the semiconductor laser is transferred to the heat radiator and is then radiated from the surface of the heat radiator to the external space of the optical head. Further, in case where heat is generated by the coil when the actuator operates, the laser optical system can be prevented from being heated, because of the fact that the heat conductivity between the coil and the laser optical system is low. Moreover, an increase in weight of the head, which is a hindrance to an operation thereof, can be prevented. Simultaneously with this, the rigidity of a holder can be increased. Thus an occurrence of harmful resonance can be prevented during the actuator is driven. Therefore, the heat radiation/cooling characteristics of the semiconductor laser can be considerably improved. Consequently, a stable operation of the apparatus and the reliability thereof can be achieved.

摘要: An optical head for use in an optical recording apparatus contains a lens element that permits independent setting of the magnification and numerical aperture for a forward optical system and a rearward optical system. The optical head includes a light beam emitting assembly that emits a beam of light and a light beam separating assembly. A light beam focusing element focuses a forward light beam onto an optical recording medium. The light beam emitted from the light beam emitting assembly follows a forward optical path passing through the light beam separating assembly as a non-diffracted light beam and is focused onto the optical recording medium. A rearward light beam is reflected from the optical recording medium and follows a rearward optical path passing through the focusing element and the light beam separating assembly such that the rearward light beam is deflected to a light detection device. The lens element is positioned in at least one of the forward optical path and the rearward optical path.
