    摘要: A liquid ejection head includes a nozzle plate having a plurality of nozzles formed therein from which droplets are ejectable. The nozzle plate includes a nozzle substrate in which a plurality of nozzle holes each constituting a nozzle is formed, and a liquid-repellent film formed on a surface of the nozzle substrate on a droplet ejection side of the nozzle plate. A circumferential portion is formed around each nozzle on the droplet ejection side of the nozzle plate and is smoothly recessed toward an edge portion of the nozzle. The edge portion of the nozzle is smoothly continuous with an inner wall of the nozzle, and the liquid-repellent film having a uniform thickness is formed across the nozzle plate on the droplet ejection side of the nozzle plate to at least the edge portion of the nozzle.

    摘要: Methods for operating a printing system are provided. In one aspect, the methods can include causing an inkjet printhead that is positioned by a support structure to emit droplets of an ink including vaporizable carrier fluid toward a target area to emit droplets according to image data, using one of a plurality of shields to individually separate each one the plurality of printheads from the target area to form a shielded region between printhead and the shield and a printing region between the shield and the target area with the shield providing an opening between the shielded region and the printing region to allow the inkjet printhead to jet droplets to the target area, and supplying an energy to heat the shields to a temperature that is above a condensation temperature of the vaporized carrier fluid.

    摘要: In an ink jet printhead have an elongate ink chamber and a nozzle at one end, a continuous flow of ink is provided through a high impedance channel communicating with the chamber close to the nozzle. Ink is ejected through the nozzle by generating longitudinal acoustic waves in the fluid chamber. A high velocity ink flow into the chamber from the channel sweeps away from the nozzle debris or bubbles that might otherwise block the nozzle.

An electrostatic actuator includes an electrode substrate 10 having individual electrodes 12 as fixed electrodes, and a cavity substrate 20 having diaphragms 22 as movable electrodes which are disposed so as to be opposed to the fixed electrodes 12 with a predetermined distance, and operated due to an electrostatic force occurring between the cavity substrate 20 and the individual electrodes 12. Sealing portions 26a are formed on one of the electrode substrate 10 and the cavity substrate 20, each of the sealing portions 26a has a plurality of sealing layers (a TEOS layer 25a, a moisture permeation preventing layer 25b) laminated one another, and each of the sealing layers is made of a sealing material 25 for isolating a space formed between the individual electrode 12 and the diaphragm 22.
