Abstract:
Systems and methods provide increased accuracy in recalibrating the tone reproduction curve (TRC) for a photoelectric image sensor that senses density values. The sensor outputs sensed density values for tone patches. A recalibrated TRC is calculated from the original TRC, the known densities of the tone patches, and the sensed density values of the tone patches.
Abstract:
A DRAM auto-swapping device is used to automatically address other available memory segments of a DRAM module of a computer system when the first 64K memory segment of the DRAM module fails to pass the testing performed by the BIOS of the computer system, whereby the computer system can be activated in spite of failure in the first 64K memory segment of the DRAM module.
Abstract:
A method for automatically aligning a charge coupled device of a scanner by using a software contained in the scanner instead of physically aligning the charge coupled device is disclosed. The scanner comprises a charge coupled device (CCD) having an array of optic sensors for converting a reflected line image into an analog signal array, an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter for converting the analog signal array into an image data array, and a test region having a positioning mark in it. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) generating an image data array which comprises the image of the test region in it by using the CCD and the A/D converter; (2) identifying the positioning mark from the image data array; and (3) setting an effective scanning range which defines the start and stop positions of valid image data within the image data array according to the identified positioning mark.
Abstract:
A data processing apparatus having a liquid heat-dissipating system includes a central processing unit (CPU), a housing to receive the CPU, and a heat conductive member. The housing has a top wall and a top opening in the wall immediately above the CPU. The heat conductive member is mounted on the wall to cover the opening and to transfer heat produced by the CPU from an inside of the housing to an outside of the housing, and has a receiving cavity adapted for receiving a cooling liquid.
Abstract:
An improved method for controlling the optical density of an image printed by an electrostatic printer is provided. The method compensates for optical density drift over the useful life of a toner receptacle by adjusting the voltage vector between the photoconductive belt and the toner particles. The method calculates an overall toner usage amount and adjusts the voltage vector when the amount reaches one or more predetermined values. In this manner, the present method controls the optical density of a printed image over the useful life of the toner receptacle.
Abstract:
A device, including: a specially programmed computer including a processor; a screen; and a control panel with a plurality of push buttons and respective icons for the push buttons. The processor is for: displaying, on the screen, the respective icons; and displaying, for each respective icon and on the screen, a respective description, in a first language, of a respective function, represented by said each respective icon, implementable by the device.

Abstract:
A hot-swap device preventing the crashing of a system which has two power sources when performing power swapping operation between the two power sources by continuously providing spare-power to the system during the switching period.
Abstract:
A notebook computer and method of carrying out data transmission in any direction via a mobile infrared sensing device. Four connecting devices are provided at four sides (in four directions) of the computer body, respectively. Therefore, users can change the position of the infrared sensor by plugging the infrared sensor in one of the connecting devices.
Abstract:
A data storage apparatus includes a data storage device and a buffer frame. The data storage device has a housing with an outer surface. The buffer frame includes a casing and an elastomeric cushioning unit. The casing has a surrounding wall that surrounds the housing of the data storage device. The surrounding wall has an inner surface that forms a clearance with the outer surface of the housing. The cushioning unit is attached on the outer surface of the housing of the data storage device. The cushioning unit is disposed in the clearance, and is in tight contact with the inner surface of the surrounding wall of the casing for positioning the data storage device in the casing.
