摘要: A method for making a fiber reinforcement with variations in transverse cross section is disclosed. The method includes forming a fiber comprising polymeric material and exposing the fiber to a heat treatment, such that at least a portion of the polymeric material at or near said surface of said fiber is at or above the melting point temperature and substantially all of the polymeric material at or near the core is below the melting point temperature. The method further includes cooling the fiber to a temperature below the melting point temperature.

摘要: The cathodic protection of a reinforced concrete structure utilizes sacrificial anodes such as aluminum or zinc as well as alloys thereof. Each anode is embedded or substantially covered in a material consisting of a hydrophilic non-cementious open-cell foam. An activating agent such as one or more lithium salts is contained within the cells of the foam to maintain the anodes in an electrochemically active state. The activating agent may be immobilized in the cells using an aqueous gel such as agar. One or more metallic conductors electrically connect the anodes to the metal reinforcing members.

摘要: Various inventive concepts of the present invention are directed to a water-repellent concrete admixture for the production of water-repellent masonry. In some exemplary embodiments, the water-repellent admixture includes water, a hydrolyzable silane, at least one silicone; and an amino-functional silane. The water-repellent concrete admixture is incorporated integrally into a concrete mixture.
