摘要: Disclosed is an architecture for a network access server wherein a switching device is placed between a network gateway device and a first network, where the switching device detects the presence or absence of a security protocol field in the header information of data packets received from the first network and routes the data packets accordingly. When the security protocol field is absent, the switching device routes the data packet to the network gateway device for processing in accordance with a protocol service provided by the network access server. When the security protocol field is present, the switching device decrypts the data packet, processes the data packet in accordance with the protocol service provided by the network access server, and routes the data packet to another device within the network access server on the basis of decrypted address information within the data packet.

摘要: A method of transmitting a voice communications signal includes the steps of sampling the signal and creating digital representations of the samples. The digital representations are speech-coded to create speech-coded data which is converted to analog symbols. A carrier in the 46-49 MHz band is modulated by the analog symbols and transmitted. A method of receiving a voice communications signal includes the steps of receiving a modulated carrier in the 46-49 MHz band and demodulating the modulated carrier to recover analog symbols. The analog symbols are converted to digital samples, which are then converted to speech-coded data. The speech-coded data are decoded to produce digitized samples, which are converted to analog samples and filtered to produce the voice communications signal. A cordless telephone system according to the invention includes a handset and a base unit. The handset includes a microphone, a speaker, a first digital signal processor connected to the microphone and to the speaker, a first 46-49 MHz RF transceiver connected to the first digital signal processor, and a first antenna connected to the first 46-49 MHz transceiver. The base unit includes a second antenna, a second 46-49 MHz RF transceiver connected to the second antenna, a memory, and a second digital signal processor connected to the second 46-49 MHz RF transceiver, to the memory, and to a telephone line interface.

摘要: Currently, metallic loops are tested for shorts, opens and grounds by applying a test signal (DC or 20 Hz) directly to the metallic looop. A test signal cannot be applied to any part of the network other than the metallic loop because it will be blocked by the A-to-D converters and the hybrid of the system before it can reach the metallic loop.In this invention, digital signal processing is used to test a metallic loop for shorts, opens, grounds and the presence of loading coils from a remote location. Direct metallic connection to the metallic loop is no longer necessary.Briefly, a test signal, in digital form, is fed into the network at some convenient location remote from the metallic loop that is to be tested. As the signal passes through the A-to-D converter from the digital section of the network to the analog metallic loop, it is converted by the A-to-D converter into an analog signal having a specific frequency and a predetermined amplitude. Defects - opens, shorts and grounds - in the metallic loop cause reflections of the analog test signal. These reflections, as they travel back toward the digital network, are converted by the A-to-D converter into digital form. The reflected signals are then detected, processed and compared to other test signals to determine the presence of shorts, opens, grounds and loading coils in the metallic loop.

摘要: A gaming machine to conduct a wagering game comprises a processing apparatus and a secondary apparatus. To inhibit unauthorized persons from replacing some or all of the software executed by the processing apparatus with unapproved software, the processing apparatus transmits a security message to the secondary apparatus. The secondary apparatus, in turn, validates the security message and transmits an enable signal when the validation is successful, or a disable signal when the validation is not successful. The processing apparatus is allowed to access to game data based on receipt of the enable signal and is denied access to game data based on receipt of the disable signal.

摘要: A gaming machine that authenticates the gaming software at boot-up or after a reset. A processor in conjunction with the boot memory reads the bits of data and files from a non-volatile memory device via a single read of each bit. The files are each validated while the bits of non-volatile memory data are simultaneously validated. After all the files and the data are validated then the gaming software is authenticated.
