摘要: A system for cooling a hot rail of rail steel to a fine perlitic or ferritic or perlitic/ferritic structure has a plurality of separate cooling modules with independently adjustable cooling parameters. The rail is guided downstream through the modules of the cooling stretch and through intermediate zones between the modules so as to cool the surface of the rail in each of the modules and to subject the rail to destressing or stress relief between the modules. Sensors in each of the intermediate zones detect the actual surface temperature of the rail in the respective zones, and a controller connected to the modules and to the sensors varies the cooling parameters of the cooling modules in dependence on the detected temperatures in the respective upstream zones to ensure a defined temperature in the rail that lies above a critical temperature at which bainitic structure components are formed.

摘要: A rolling apparatus for rolling angle profiles from rolling stock has upper and lower horizontal profile rolls rotatable about respective parallel upper and lower axes and together defining an open or closed roll gap that lies in a rolling plane perpendicular to a travel direction of the rolling stock. At least one pair of nonhorizontal edging rolls laterally compress the rolling stock and define a rolling plane extending perpendicular to the travel direction of the rolling stock. The rolling plane defined by the profile rolls and the rolling plane defined by the pair of edging rolls are not coplanar with each other. This rolling stand can do angle rolling in reversing and also continuous operating mode.

摘要: An elongated workpiece is treated, e.g. rolled, in a production system where treatment devices move the workpiece longitudinally in a horizontal travel direction and at a generally constant travel speed along a horizontal longitudinal path and a control computer is connected to the treatment devices. Straightness of the workpiece is measured by gripping the workpiece at a pair of longitudinally spaced supports, applying tension to a longitudinally extending horizontal portion of the workpiece between the supports, and continuously moving the workpiece in the travel direction at the travel speed with a lower surface of the portion substantially unsupported. At least periodically a vertical spacing is measured between the portion and a straight longitudinal reference line extending in the direction between the supports parallel to the workpiece at the supports. The vertical-spacing measurement are fed to the computer for use controlling the devices.
