    摘要: An apparatus for treating metal wire by multiple reverse bending and associated methods for using the apparatus are disclosed. The first roller has a first roller diameter, is followed by N−1 intermediate rollers with intermediate roller diameters and ends with an exit roller with an exit roller diameter. The exit roller is larger than the first roller and any one roller in the sequence of rollers has a roller diameter that is not smaller than the preceding roller in the sequence. The progressively larger diameters impose a well-controlled, gradually decreasing curvature to the wire resulting in a cast controlled wire. By folding the wire path together, a compact arrangement is obtained accommodating the increasingly larger rollers. A method to operate the apparatus is also described that allows for an easy adjustment of the apparatus in function of wire thickness.

    摘要: A rolling mill roll neck is sealed by interposing a seal between a roll flinger having a first axial surface and an opposing second axial surface of a roll housing retaining plate. The seal is biased into contact against one of the axial surfaces with a pressurized fluid source, such as compressed air. As the seal wears during roll neck operation the pressurized fluid maintains biasing contact between the seal and the axial surface. The remainder of the intact seal is remains pressed into contact with the mating, opposing axial surface, for example that of a roll flinger or a retaining plate. Advantageously the seal is housed in a stationary retaining plate that is in opposed axial relationship with a rotating flinger.

    摘要: A method for continuous rolling includes flash-butt welding to form a continuous billet by joining a rear end of a preceding billet with a front end of a succeeding billet, removing burrs from a welded portion of the joined part, and continuously rolling the joined continuous billet in a rolling mill group. The flash-butt welding step includes the use of two travelling welders arranged in series and spaced at a distance along the direction of movement of the continuous billet corresponding to the length of the billet being welded. The travelling welders synchronously move with the continuous billet, and separately and simultaneously weld the continuous billet to another billet by flash-butt welding so as to extend the length of the continuous billet.

    摘要: Disclosed is a process and apparatus for producing metal-sheathed strands, especially glass fiber cables, from a metal strip that is first formed into a U-shaped profile and then, after the placement therein of a non-ductile or slightly ductile core material, is closed to form a split tube carrying and/or protecting the core material, which split tube, after the welding of its longitudinal seam, is reduced in a subsequent deformation step. In the process of the invention, the metal-sheathed strand with the welded longitudinal seam is cold-formed in a stretch-reducing fashion in multiple continuous sequential steps. In the apparatus for implementing the process, multiple speed-controlled roll stands of a stretch-reducing cold rolling mill with declining caliber cross-sections are arranged one behind the other directly after the longitudinal seam welding machine for the split tube for the reductive deformation of the metal sheath.
