摘要： A body interface device for a urine aspiration system comprises a skin contact pad with gel adhesive for adhering to the skin, and a flexible cover attached to the pad. The pad includes at least one aperture for admitting urine through the pad into the body interface device. The flexible cover has a bulged form projecting away from the gasket. The flexible cover defines a urine receiving chamber facing towards the gasket, and recess facing away from the chamber for receiving at least a portion of a non-contact liquid sensor. The recess and chamber have a wall portion in common that separates the recess and the chamber. A liquid acquisition material in the chamber receives and transports urine for rapid sensing by the non-contact sensor. An aspiration unit is responsive to the non-contact liquid sensor to apply aspiration suction to the body interface device, upon detection of urine.

摘要： An ostomy appliance is described in the form of a controlled discharge device for controlling discharge from the stoma and/or an ostomy pouch for collecting discharged waste. The appliance may include one or more of: an elastomeric stoma seal for providing a seal around or directly against the stoma; a stoma occluder for occluding the stoma without passing internally into the stoma; a peristomal foam wall; a confinement seal for confining at least solid excreta to a confinement region adjacent to the stoma; a stowable collector bag; and interchangeable controlled discharge devices and ostomy pouches. The foam wall may provide a barrier to stool, but allow escape of flatus. The foam wall and/or the stoma occluder and/or the confinement seal may apply a force in a direction to increase the sealing force on the stoma seal.

The protector shield comprises (i) a seal displacer manipulable for displacing the stoma seal to a non-operative position ready for fitting, (ii) a substantially rigid coupling member guard portion for protecting the state of the coupling member, and (iii) a bracing portion for bracing the single-use frangible portion.

摘要： An adhesive ostomy coupling comprises first and second coupling parts each having a respective orifice. The first coupling part includes an upstanding wall for entering the orifice of the second coupling part. The second coupling part includes an adhesive faceplate for adhering to the first coupling part outside the upstanding wall. The upstanding wall and the faceplate form an interference fit at a position corresponding to the inner periphery of the adhesive, to protect the adhesive from effluent attack. The upstanding wall has an undercut for interlocking with the adhesive faceplate of the second coupling part. The upstanding wall also acts as a guide to prevent mispositioning of the pouch when mounting the adhesive faceplate on the complementary flange.

摘要： A body fitment for an ostomy appliance comprises an adhesive wafer including a body-facing side for adhesively contacting the user's body. The adhesive wafer includes a moldable region shapable by the user, and a hole therethrough for allowing the user to manually mold a stomal aperture in the moldable region. The body fitment is provided with the inner peripheral region of the adhesive bordering the hole being pre-shaped with a non-planar configuration, e.g. bent or curled away from the body-facing side of the adhesive, prior to be being molded by the user. The pre-shaped, non-planar, configuration is supported by a release device that initially protects the body-facing side of the adhesive but which is intended to be removed prior to use of the body fitment, to enable the adhesive then to be molded by a user.
