Abstract:
A plurality of juxtaposed rings are rotatably mounted on a stationary axle and are engageable by said strip and adapted to deflect the same. A plurality of bearings surround said axle and are surrounded each by one of said rings. Each of said bearings comprises an inner race facing said axle. A plurality of springs surround said axle and are surrounded each by said inner race of one of said bearings. Each of said spring rings has a mounting portion secured to said axle and an engaging portion which is opposite to said mounting portion and has a radially inner side and a radially outer side, which engages the associated inner race. A plurality of pressure gages are provided, each of which is disposed between said axle and said engaging portion of one of said spring rings and engages said engaging portion on the radially inner side thereof.
Abstract:
The reel comprises a plurality of expansible shell portions, a plurality of expanding bars operable to adjust said shell portions, a clamping seat, a radially displaceable clamping bar radially facing said seat, a slidable wedge bar disposed on the side of said clamping bar opposite to said seat, pressure plungers interposed between said wedge bar and said clamping bar and operatively connecting the same, and spring means urging said wedge bar toward said clamping bar. Said wedge bar is operable to force said clamping bar against said seat by means of said pressure plungers so that a strip end portion can be clamped between said clamping bar and said clamping seat.
Abstract:
First controlled means are provided to impart a pivotal movement to a primary pivoted lever, to which a secondary pivoted lever is pivoted. Second controlled means are provided to impart to said secondary pivoted lever a pivoted movement relative to said primary pivoted lever. A processor roll is mounted on said secondary pivoted lever and engageable with the periphery of a coil of strip to be uncoiled. Said first and second controlled means are operable to hold said processor roll in engagement with the periphery of said coil as the latter decreases in diameter during the uncoiling of said strip.
Abstract:
In an apparatus for straightening a continuously running metal strip with a stretching operation, there provided a hold-back roll assembly and a drawing roll assembly; every roll in both roll assemblies has the same diameter and is, with the exception of the fastest roll in one assembly and the slowest roll in the other assembly, associated with a separate differential gearing, the output rpm of which is individually variable by a regulating device in accordance with the required rpm increase or rpm decrease of the associated roll with respect to the adjacent roll.
Abstract:
A clamping shaft for clamping a rotating element comprises a generally closed tubular core having an inlet adapted to be connected to a pressure fluid source, and radial bore means communicating with said inlet and open on the outside peripheral surface of said core. The shaft also comprises an expansible clamping sleeve enclosing the outside peripheral surface of said core and firmly and tightly joined thereto at least at two spaced-apart portions of its length to define around said core at least one annular space, which communicates with said radial bore means.
Abstract:
There is described a drive means in an apparatus for straightening a running metal band by exposing it simultaneously to alternating bending and to stretching by a hold-back roll assembly and a drawing roll assembly, in each roll assembly every two successive rolls form a roll pair; each roll pair is driven by a gearing group. Each gearing group is formed of a first differential gearing, a second differential gearing and a regulator gearing. The first differential gearing has two output shafts and a compensating gear housing driven by an input shaft. One output shaft of the first differential gearing is connected directly to one roll of the roll pair, while the other output shaft is connected to the other roll of the roll pair through the second differential gearing. The compensating gear housing of the latter is connected to the regulator gearing which is also coupled to the second output shaft of the first differential gearing. By adjusting the regulator gearing, the transmission ratio of the second differential gearing is changed for thus altering the rpm relationship between the two rolls of the roll pair.
Abstract:
A toggle joint for driving a cutter blade of a flying shears. The blade is connected via a link to the junction of the toggle joint rods. One or both of the opposite ends of the rods perform a cyclic movement, e.g., a rotation.
Abstract:
A FRAME HAS VERTICAL GUIDEWAYS SPACED APART IN A PREDETERMINED HORIZONTAL DIRECTION. TWO CYLINDRICALLY CURVED GUIDE MEMBERS ARE FORMED WITH SURFACES EACH OF WHICH IS AT LEAST A PART OF A SURFACE OR REVOLUTION CENTERED ON A GENERALLY HORIZONTAL AXIS THAT IS TRANSVERSE TO SAID PREDETERMINED DIRECTION. A YOKE IS DISPOSED BETWEEN AND IN ENGAGEMENT WEITH SAID GUIDEWAYS AND FORMED ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF SAID FRAME WITH SURFACES CONFORMING TO AND RESTING ON SAID SURFACES OF SAID GUIDE MEMBERS TO SUPPORT SAID YOKE. A SET OF LOWER ROLLS EXTENDING GENERALLY HORIZONTALLY AND TRANSVERSELY TO SAID PREDETERMINED DIRECTION
IS CARRIED BY SAID YOKE. A SADDLE IS MOUNTED IN SAID FRAME FOR VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT. ADJUSTABLE WEDGE MEMBERS CARRY THE TWO GUIDE MEMBERS ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF SAID FRAME AND ARE MOUNTED ON SAID SADDLE FOR ADJUSTMENT RELATIVE THERETO IN A VERTICAL DIRECTION AND GENERALLY IN THE DIRECTION OF SAID AXIS. A WEDGE IS INTERPOSED BETWEEN SAID SADDLE AND SAID FRAME AND HORIZONTALLY MOVABLE TO ADJUST SAID SADDLE AT HIGH SPEED IN A VERTICAL DIRECTION.
