Abstract:
THE NEW COMPOSITION OF MATTER, DI-SILVER AMINOTETRAZOLE PERCHLORATE, IS USEFUL AS A PRIMARY EXPLOXIVE FOR INITIATING SECONDARY EXPLOSIVES SUCH AS TNT, HNS, DIPAM, AND THE LIKE. THE COMPOUND IS STABLE AT 500*F. FOR UPWARDS OF 50 HOURS.
Abstract:
An electrical pyrotechnic programming system, including a pyrotechnic signal source for activating an electrical power source. The power source provides current to an electrical switching system, including individual switches responsive to velocity acceleration and barometric altitude. Closure of the switches after actuation of the electrical power source produces a pyrotechnic output signal by igniting bridge wires. The power source comprises parallel connected batteries, the first of which is a type known as a thermal battery, and the second of which is a more conventional nickel-cadmium battery.
Abstract:
Energetic and rapid burning compositions suitable for use as a rapid deflagrating material, for ignition of other materials, e.g., hot wire ignition and/or for use in primers and the like, are prepared by dissolving in aqueous solution one or more powerful oxidizer salts such as alkali metal, especially potassium perchlorates, chlorates, chromates, or nitrates, along with a cyano metal complex fuel such as potassium or sodium ferricyanide, ferrocyanide, cobaltocyanide, or closely similar materials, then coprecipitating by pouring the aqueous solution into a water-compatible organic non-solvent liquid such as C2 to C4 monohydric alcohol. Specifically disclosed are compositions of major proportions of potassium perchlorate or dichromate and minor proportions of potassium ferricyanide K3Fe(CN)6, or the analogous cobaltate K3Co(CN)6. The reaction product is precipitated from the water solution by dumping it into an excess of 2-propanol. The precipitation procedure produces a much smoother and more homogeneous product than comparable prior art pyrotechnic materials. The products have a burning velocity which is intermediate between those of conventional pyrotechnic ignition materials and detonating materials such as ''''Primacord'''' and similar products.
Abstract:
In order to obviate the necessity for using firing pins or electrical probes for initiating ammunition, a cluster of conductors are enclosed within a mass of pyroignition material, and means are provided to subject the cluster of conductors to control electromagnetic radiation such that they are heated into an incandescent state to ignite the pyroignition material.
Abstract:
A restraining device is described incorporating an inflatable bag positioned in a vehicle to restrain persons in a vehicle and prevent them from colliding with objects when the vehicle is subjected to collision accelerations. The bag incorporates passageways therein which are connected to a gas source; the gas source, when actuated, inflates the passageways, thus extending the bag and drawing air into the bag from the atmosphere within the vehicle. A unidirectional valve permits the air to enter the bag, but prevents its escape in the event the pressure within the bag exceeds that of the atmosphere within the vehicle, such as by the impact of a person with the bag.
Abstract:
A faceplate is provided with a plurality of openings therein, each representing a digit to be used in a keyboard; a metal switch plate is positioned immediately beneath the faceplate and includes a plurality of dome-shaped resilient deformable dimples forming keys therein, each registering with and extending into a different one of said openings. An insulating plate, with holes therein registering with the dimples, separates the switch plate from a contact board that includes a plurality of contact buttons, each registering with one of the holes in the insulating plate. The dimples may be depressed by the fingertip of an operator to ''''snap'''' into contact with a corresponding contact button and will ''''snap'''' back to their original position when fingertip pressure is released.
Abstract:
A PAIR OF ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTING RINGS ARE SPRING-URGED INTO CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER. A CONDUCTING POST IS CONNECTED TO EACH OF TE RINGS, EACH POST EXTENDS THROUGH A RIGID BODY MEMBER OF INSULATING MATERIAL, THE CONDUCING POSTS ARE THUS INSUALTED FROM EACH OTHER TO INSURE THAT ELECTRICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN EXTERNAL CONDUCTORS CONNECTED THERETO, IS MADE ONLY AT THE CONDUCTING RINGS.
