    摘要: A system and method for ocular surgery includes a delivery system for generating and guiding a surgical laser beam to a focal point in a treatment area of an eye. Additionally, a contact device is employed for using the eye to establish a reference datum. Further, an optical detector is coupled to the beam path of the surgical laser to create a sequence of cross-sectional images. Each image visualizes both the reference datum and the focal point. Operationally, a computer then uses these images to position and move the focal point in the treatment area relative to the reference datum for surgery.

    摘要: A system for positioning the eye of a patient, relative to a stationary surgical laser unit, includes a chair for moving the patient. An eye stabilizing element is held against the eye, with a tapered receptacle extending outwardly therefrom. Also, an alignment device with a tapered tip is mounted on the surgical laser unit. In operation, the patient is moved to engage the receptacle of the eye stabilizing element with the tip of the alignment device, to thereby align the patient's eye with the surgical laser unit for laser surgery.

    摘要: A system for producing polychromatic light having selectively shaped wavefronts includes a source for generating light beams of at least two wavelengths (λ1, λ2). The beams are made up of a plurality of contiguous sub-beams that establish λ1 and λ2 wavefronts. From the source, the light is directed toward an optical phase shifting device which can include one or more arrays, with each array having a plurality of elements. Functionally, within a particular array, each element is independently adjustable to selectively alter the optical pathlength of a corresponding sub-beam. For light having two wavelengths (λ1, λ2), a first array configuration is used to reshape the λ1 wavelength light and a second array configuration is used to reshape the λ2 wavelength light. After wavefront reshaping, the λ1 and λ2 wavelength light is directed onto a common beam path where it can be viewed, imaged or further processed.

    摘要: A device for calibrating a laser beam system includes a calibration member having a surface positioned at a predetermined distance from the base datum of the unit. Further, the system includes a mechanism for focusing the beam to a focal point and for moving the focal point relative to the surface of the calibration member. When the focal point reaches the surface of the calibration member, Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) is induced. Thereafter, the position of the location of LIOB may be measured relative to the base datum to calibrate the laser beam. Further, patterns may be applied to the calibration member using LIOB to calibrate tilt/decenter of the beam and to determine the energy density and uniformity in the focal spot of the laser beam.
