摘要: In certain aspects, the present disclosure is related to devices, methods, systems and/or computer-readable media for use in an isochronous media network in which media devices connected to a network employ one or more synchronization signal to regulate or facilitate the transmission of media signals through the network. In certain aspects, the present disclosure is also related to devices, methods, systems and/or computer-readable media for use in a larger unified, or substantially unified, isochronous network created from aggregating local isochronous media networks in which media devices connected to a network employ a one or more synchronization signal distributed from a local master clock to regulate or facilitate the transmission of media signals.

摘要: A networked system is provided for transporting digital media packets, such as audio and video. The network includes network devices interconnected to send and receive packets. Each network device can receive and transmit media signals from media devices. A master clock generates a system time signal that the network devices use, together with a network time protocol to generate a local clock signal synchronised to the system time signal for both rate and offset. The local clock signal governs both the rate and offset of the received or transmitted media signals. The system, which can be implemented using conventional network equipment enables media signals to be transported to meet quality and timing requirements for high quality audio and video reproduction.

摘要: A method, a network access point and a communication system are disclosed for admitting data flows corresponding to new service requests to a multiple access network. The method includes the steps of receiving a service request having Quality of Service (QoS) requirements from a network node (410), calculating the effective bandwidth required by a data flow corresponding to the service request based on an average packet size of the data flow (420), determining the maximum capacity of the network (430), and admitting the data flow corresponding to the service request (445) if the network has sufficient capacity to accommodate the effective bandwidth required by the data flow. The average packet size of a data flow corresponding to the service request can be determined from the service request for calculating the effective bandwidth required by the data flow. The maximum capacity of the network can be determined based on the number of transmitting nodes in the network. If the transmission rate of the service request is less than the maximum transmission rate of the network, the effective bandwidth required by the new data flow can be adjusted.

摘要: A method of avoiding deadlock during managing storage of items in a network (102) of heterogeneous storage devices (104,106,108). The method firstly detects (402) a storage event. Detection is effected by the local storage device and then the method obtains input information (404) having parameter values related to the item and the heterogeneous storage devices (104,106,108). The method then processes (406) the input information to determine a storage assignment, for storage of the item on one or more of the heterogeneous storage devices (104,106,108). The assignment is based on item-device suitability determined from a combination of at least one item selection rule and rules preventing deadlock.
