摘要: Methods and systems for managing the transfer of large data files across electronic data networks optimally in accordance with the desired results of the users. The present invention takes into consideration the user-defined transfer requirements, the data characteristics, and the characteristics of the entirety of the network, including both the access links and the backbone and processing and storage resources in the backbone. The present invention the enables users to more optimally transfer data within the limitations of the existing network capabilities, negating requirements to update local or remote network facilities.

摘要: Data is transmitted using multiple description vector quantization by first quantizing the source vector at a lattice vector quantizer. After quantization, a labeling function is applied to the quantized source vector, creating a plurality of data streams. Each data stream is encoded and transmitted over a separate channel. Furthermore, the encoded data is decoded by first retrieving a representation of a sublattice point from a set of sublattice points from the data stream and then, determining a single data code word being associated with the retrieved representation of the sublattice point.

摘要: A generalized frequency modulation (FM) based method for converting an analog signal to a digital signal. An analog input signal is sampled at the Nyquist rate. Each sample is converted to a corresponding modulated chirped FM signal. The digital signal is generated by sampling each modulated chirped FM signal at a rate which depends upon the bits per sample of the analog-to-digital (A/D) converter.

摘要: A balanced multiple descriptive coder codes data in streams so that an acceptable replica of source data can be generated if either stream is lost. The balanced multiple descriptive coder may include a pair of coding branches, each branch including a coding chain and a prediction chain.
