    Abstract: A microcontroller for recording and storing physiological data includes an analog-to-digital converter for converting analog physiological sensor signals to digital signals, a sample buffer for holding a temporal sequence of the digital signals, a central processing unit (CPU), and a non-volatile memory. The non-volatile memory includes (i) a code storage encoding machine-readable data compression instructions that, when executed by the CPU, control the CPU to (a) transform the temporal sequence of the digital signals to produce transformed physiological data characterized by a set of transformation coefficients and (b) compress the set of transformation coefficients to generate compressed physiological data, and (ii) a data storage configured to contain several different instances of the compressed physiological data respectively associated with several different instances of the temporal sequence of the digital signals.

    Abstract: A method for encoding a multichannel sound signal, a corresponding decoding method, an encoding device and a decoding device. The encoding method includes: forming a transformation matrix in the form of a rotation matrix to be applied to the input signals; quantifying the rotation matrix; and encoding the transformed signals after application of the rotation matrix. The quantifying of the rotation matrix includes the following operations: converting the rotation matrix in the quaternion domain with at least one first quaternion; forcing the first quaternion to have a positive component; converting the at least one first quaternion into spherical coordinates, one of the spherical coordinates being associated with the forced positive component of the first quaternion; and quantifying the resulting rotating spherical coordinates, the spherical coordinate associated with the forced positive component of the first quaternion being quantified in a half-length interval.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a digital circuit and method for compressing input digital values. A plurality of input digital values may include zero values and non-zero values. The input digital values are received on M inputs of a first switching stage. The first switching stage is arranged in groups that rearrange the non-zero values on first switching stage outputs according to a compression and shift. The compression and shift position the non-zero values on outputs coupled to inputs of a second switching stage. The second switching stage consecutively couples non-zero values to N outputs, where N is less than M.

    Abstract: A method for pyramid vector quantization indexing of audio/video signals comprises obtaining of an integer input vector representing the audio/video signal samples. A leading sign is extracted from the integer input vector. The leading sign is a sign of a terminal non-zero coefficient in the integer input vector. The terminal non-zero coefficient is one of a first non-zero coefficient and a last non-zero coefficient in the integer input vector. The integer input vector is indexed with a pyramid vector quantization enumeration scheme into an output index representing the audio/video signal samples. The pyramid vector quantization enumeration scheme is designed for neglecting the sign of the terminal non-zero coefficient. The output index and the leading sign are outputted. A corresponding method for de-indexing, an encoder, a decoder, and computer programs therefore are also disclosed.
