Abstract: A computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to perform processing including: dividing a sequence indicating a rational formula of a compound, into a character string of a minimum unit of the sequence and a branch symbol indicating a branched portion of the compound; generating a first coded sequence by using a group dictionary indicating a relationship between the sequence and the compression code, the generating including assigning a compression code to the character string of the minimum unit, and assigning the compression code according to a type of the branched portion to the branch symbol; and generating a second coded sequence by using a primary structure dictionary indicating a relationship between a group primary structure of the sequence and the compression code, the generating of the second coded sequence including encoding the compression code in the first coded sequence in units of the group primary structure.

Abstract: A microcontroller for recording and storing physiological data includes an analog-to-digital converter for converting analog physiological sensor signals to digital signals, a sample buffer for holding a temporal sequence of the digital signals, a central processing unit (CPU), and a non-volatile memory. The non-volatile memory includes (i) a code storage encoding machine-readable data compression instructions that, when executed by the CPU, control the CPU to (a) transform the temporal sequence of the digital signals to produce transformed physiological data characterized by a set of transformation coefficients and (b) compress the set of transformation coefficients to generate compressed physiological data, and (ii) a data storage configured to contain several different instances of the compressed physiological data respectively associated with several different instances of the temporal sequence of the digital signals.

Abstract: A method for partitioning of input vectors for coding is presented. The method comprises obtaining of an input vector. The input vector is segmented, in a non-recursive manner, into an integer number, NSEG, of input vector segments. A representation of a respective relative energy difference between parts of the input vector on each side of each boundary between the input vector segments is determined, in a recursive manner. The input vector segments and the representations of the relative energy differences are provided for individual coding. Partitioning units and computer programs for partitioning of input vectors for coding, as well as positional encoders, are presented.

Abstract: A network node signals to a wireless communication device which precoders in a codebook are restricted from being used. The network node in this regard generates codebook subset restriction signaling that, for each of one or more groups of precoders, jointly restricts the precoders in the group by restricting a certain component (e.g., a certain beam precoder) that the precoders in the group have in common. This signaling may be for instance rank-agnostic signaling that jointly restricts the precoders in a group without regard to the precoders' transmission rank. Regardless, the network node sends the generated signaling to the wireless communication device.

Abstract: A method for encoding a multichannel sound signal, a corresponding decoding method, an encoding device and a decoding device. The encoding method includes: forming a transformation matrix in the form of a rotation matrix to be applied to the input signals; quantifying the rotation matrix; and encoding the transformed signals after application of the rotation matrix. The quantifying of the rotation matrix includes the following operations: converting the rotation matrix in the quaternion domain with at least one first quaternion; forcing the first quaternion to have a positive component; converting the at least one first quaternion into spherical coordinates, one of the spherical coordinates being associated with the forced positive component of the first quaternion; and quantifying the resulting rotating spherical coordinates, the spherical coordinate associated with the forced positive component of the first quaternion being quantified in a half-length interval.

Abstract: An optical network includes a transmitting portion configured to (i) encode an input digitized sequence of data samples into a quantized sequence of data samples having a first number of digits per sample, (ii) map the quantized sequence of data samples into a compressed sequence of data samples having a second number of digits per sample, the second number being lower than the first number, and (iii) modulate the compressed sequence of data samples and transmit the modulated sequence over a digital optical link. The optical network further includes a receiving portion configured to (i) receive and demodulate the modulated sequence from the digital optical link, (ii) map the demodulated sequence from the second number of digits per sample into a decompressed sequence having the first number of digits per sample, and (iii) decode the decompressed sequence.

Abstract: A method for pyramid vector quantization indexing of audio/video signals comprises obtaining of an integer input vector representing the audio/video signal samples. A leading sign is extracted from the integer input vector. The leading sign is a sign of a terminal non-zero coefficient in the integer input vector. The terminal non-zero coefficient is one of a first non-zero coefficient and a last non-zero coefficient in the integer input vector. The integer input vector is indexed with a pyramid vector quantization enumeration scheme into an output index representing the audio/video signal samples. The pyramid vector quantization enumeration scheme is designed for neglecting the sign of the terminal non-zero coefficient. The output index and the leading sign are outputted. A corresponding method for de-indexing, an encoder, a decoder, and computer programs therefore are also disclosed.
