    摘要： An arrangement for stripping a packaging tube to remove product from the seal area is provided wherein the stripping plates may be conveniently mounted on the sealing jaws and brought into stripping engagement by single pneumatic cylinder and interrupter cam arrangement. Specifically, a follower roller is carried by the toggle linkage and cylinder that actuates the sealing jaws and said roller engages a stationary cam mounted on the frame of the machine to interrupt the inward movement of the jaws short of sealing engagement; i.e., in the stripping position. After stripping, the follower roller passes over a sloping exit section of the dam for controlled release of the sealing jaws to the sealing and drawing out position. The cam assembly is made of a base member having a central channel for slidably receiving an elongated cam element. The cam element is cushioned by a resilient pad to absorb the shock of the engagement by the follower roller; the cam element being held on the base member by a pin and slot arrangement.

    摘要： A cradle for supporting a web roll of material during an unwinding operation is provided wherein the outer turn of the web is maintained in a tight condition on the roll by rotation of the rear support roller at a differential speed slower than the forward roller. A control system is provided wherein flexible brake bands are adapted to engage the periphery of the rear roller and move in the direction opposite to the rotation of said roller in response to a dancer arm to brake the roll upon decrease in demand; said brake bands being driven in the direction of rotation of the roll upon restart of the unwinding operation or increase in demand to overcome the inertia of the roll. An improved roll centering system is provided wherein individual adjustment of the side guides as well as adjustment in unison for positioning the roll along the centerline of the cradle can be effected.

    摘要： An apparatus and method are disclosed for filling a package having an upwardly extending open mouth to prevent jam-up and breakage of the product. An arcuately shaped rod is moved in a rotary path in the mouth to cause the product to have a positive whirlpool action and induced spiraling in order to seek the best orientation to enter the package. The tip of the rod is positioned along the centerline of the rotary path and the centerline of the package to provide a full sweep within the vortex pattern and allow maximum space for entrance around the package for the spiraling product. Gentle agitation of the product to break up lumps is provided by a tortuous path within the vortex pattern and limited flexure of the rod. The whirlpool action is enhanced and the integrity of the product insured by feeding the product tangentially with respect to the vortex and operating the rod at the same speed as the merging product.

    摘要： Apparatus and method of cyclic or intermittent feeding and unwinding of sheet material includes a pneumatic motor that drives the rotary web roll support and a brake that serves to stall out the motor when the predetermined length of material has been unwound. Draw means is provided to draw the predetermined length of film in a manufacturing process, such as packaging, with a slack loop being formed between the draw means and the web roll. The pneumatic motor is preferably a cylinder and rack combination with a drive stroke producing a capability greater than said predetermined length with the brake stalling out the motor at the end of the stroke to assure proper feed during each cycle and to maintain the tension in the web at a minimum and substantially constant during the complete operation. The slack loop is formed by a dancer assembly with linkage means comprising a cam and leaf spring applying the brake in a progressive manner only during the final moments of unwinding of the material. The dancer assembly desirably has insufficient pulling or tensioning power to pull film from the web roll so that complete reliance for feeding is put on the positive drive. The drive means and the draw means are operated at mutually exclusive times and are coordinated by first and second valves that actuate the drive means as the draw means are withdrawn to complete the drawing step.

    摘要： A volumetric dispensing apparatus is disclosed wherein a dispensing head having a plurality of fill cavities formed around the periphery is mounted within an annular cavity housing concentric with the head and forming the outer peripheral side of the cavities. An inclined bottom is provided for each cavity and a lateral discharge opening in the housing allows sequential release of the measured batches from the fill cavities. Draft is provided along the side surfaces to provide an enlarged top fill opening and an enlarged lateral discharge side to prevent bridging of product and to promote clean release of the batch. The dispensing head is mounted on a column and is adapted for easy removal for cleaning. An annular collar supports the cavity bottoms for simultaneous adjustment by a central jackscrew device. A rotary wiper removes the loose material from the bottom of the cavity housing and deposits the same through a receiving opening. A product limiting fence extends across a bowl-type hopper mounted on the top of the dispensing head; said fence dividing the hopper into fill and discharge sections. Conveyor means is provided to feed product into the hopper at a fill point whereat the empty fill cavity emerges under the fence. A centrally located cone urges the product radially outward and handle means at the apex of the cone facilitates the dispensing head removal for cleaning. A control arrangement is provided for the feed conveyor whereby the speed of the conveyor is increased upon detecting a thinning out of product and decreased to a normal level upon detecting a proper level of product in the hopper. The detecting finger is mounted substantially at the midpoint between the fill point of the fill section and the wiping point to sense the approximate middle of the spiral wedge of product formed by rotation of the dispensing head.
