摘要: In a magnetic resonance imaging method magnetic resonance signal samples are received for a predetermined field of view by a receiving antenna having a spatial sensitivity profile. The sampling in the k space corresponds to the predetermined field of view in the geometrical space. Folded-over images having folded-over pixel values are reconstructed from the sampled magnetic resonance signals. Pixel contributions for spatial positions within the predetermined field of view are calculated from the folded-over pixel values and the spatial sensitivity profile of the receiver antenna. The magnetic resonance image is formed from the pixel contributions for spatial positions within the predetermined field of view. Thus, aliasing or fold-over artefacts caused by a field of view that is too small are avoided.

摘要: A yarn is spun by dividing a traveling fiber assembly into a plurality of fiber sub-assemblies, causing the sub-assemblies to traverse different paths and then recombining them, wherein the paths are sufficiently proximate for fibers to continuously transfer from one or more of the sub-assemblies and be drawn onto or into another or other sub-assemblies. Also disclosed is a method for forming a yarn comprising twisting a plurality of fiber sub-assemblies together at a convergence point to form a fiber assembly being a yarn, and further including cyclically altering the relative twist propagation in and/or into the sub-assemblies upstream of the convergence point. Still further disclosed are alternative methods involving cyclic variation of paths traversed by the sub-assemblies, and cyclic alteration of the relative positions of the sub-assemblies. Apparatus is described for carrying out each method.

摘要: Variations in the position of a part of a living object within the measurement space of magnetic resonance apparatus are determined by an ultrasound device in which bursts of ultrasonic waves having a frequency F.sub.US are transmitted towards the object in response to start signals generated to the repetition frequency F.sub.R, and ultrasonic waves reflected by the object are received and an analog echo signal is detected which is converted into a digital echo signal made up of a sequence of echo pulses having a repetition frequency F.sub.US. The device includes a controller for generating a time-window, for determining whether a predetermined edge of an echo pulse occurs within the time-window, and for setting the time for generating the next time-window at 1/F.sub.R -1/2F.sub.US after an echo pulse has occurred within the time-window. In order to automatically generate a next time-window even in the absence of an echo pulse received in the previous time-window, an estimating circuit provides an estimated value for the time for generating the next time-window, which estimating circuit includes an envelope detector and a level detector for determining the time t.sub.L when the level of the envelope of the analog echo signal exceeds a predetermined level. The time for generating the next time-window is set at 1/F.sub.R -1/2F.sub.US after the time t.sub.L if no echo pulse has occurred within the time-window.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for shimming a main magnetic field in a magnetic resonance device. The method comprises the steps of generating at least one spatially selective radio frequency pulse (RF) for exciting nuclear spin magnetization within a restricted region of the examination volume of the magnetic resonance device, acquiring a magnetic resonance signal (ES) that is sensitive to the homogeneity of the main magnetic field, and applying electric currents (SZ, SX, SY) to a shim coil arrangement of the magnetic resonance device such that the main magnetic field is adjusted in accordance to the properties of the acquired magnetic resonance signal (ES). In order to provide a shimming method, in which it is avoided that the shape or size of the selected volume is influenced by the adjustment of the magnetic field distribution generated by the shim coils, the invention proposes that the electric currents (SZ, SX, SY) applied to the shim coil arrangement are at least partially switched off during the generation of the spatially selective radio frequency pulse (RF) and switched on during the acquisition of the magnetic resonance signal (ES).
