Abstract:
A system and method for reducing call establishment delay in wireless network is provided, in which a network node establishes a call to a wireless terminal controlled by an AP via a sever. The wireless terminal notifies the server of its listen interval. In the power saving mode, the wireless terminal wakes up every listen interval and listen the beacon to check whether any buffered packet for it. When the wireless terminal learns from the beacon that there are packets waiting, it communicates with the access point to retrieve them. The server records a listen time at which the wireless terminal will wake tip and listen to the AP based on the listen interval. When a network node calls the wireless terminal, the server buffers the request for a time interval based on the listen time, and then sends the request to the wireless terminal.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method and apparatus that uses a mobility management server (MMS) device for supporting mobility management in wireless networks. With the MMS device for services of resource management and packet relay, this invention speeds up the handover procedure for a mobile device switching from a first network domain to a second network domain in a wireless network environment having a session initiation protocol (SIP) server. When the mobile device needs to switch to the second network domain, the MMS allocates the required resources for packet relay, provides the related information for the second network domain, and takes care of the packet relay. This invention shortens the inter-domain handover latency and reduces the number of lost packets during the handover procedure. Thereby, the transmission efficiency of the present invention meets the requirement for real-time multimedia applications.
Abstract:
An audio jack connector connected with a printed circuit board includes a dielectric housing, a connecting terminal, at least one grounding terminal and a shell. The dielectric housing defines a passageway therethrough. The connecting terminal is received in the passageway of the dielectric housing. The grounding terminal is fixed on the dielectric housing. The grounding terminal has a contact portion exposed outside the dielectric housing and a connecting portion for being connected with the printed circuit board. The shell encloses the dielectric housing and detachably contacts the contact portion of the grounding terminal. As the grounding terminal is separated with the shell, the grounding terminal and the shell can be made independently, which can not only save materials but also reduce the reject rate of the audio jack connector.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an apparatus and method for IP mobility management for persistent connections. Without affecting the applications on the network domain, it provides for domain hand-off for a mobile node so that the mobile node can maintain the persistent connection. The mobility management apparatus may comprise a Mobility-Aware Socket module (MAS) and one or more mobility management servers. Each mobility management server communicates with a corresponding mobile node. When a mobile node roams from a first network domain to a second network domain, the mobile node and its target mobile nodes execute the MAS module to support the mobility management for persistent connections through their corresponding mobility management servers.
Abstract:
This invention provides a bistable liquid crystal device. The bistable liquid crystal device includes a first substrate having thereon a first conductive layer and a first alignment layer, a second substrate having thereon a second conductive layer and a second alignment layer; and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second alignment layers. The first alignment layer induces a first pretilt angle θ1 in the range of 20°-65° between the liquid crystal layer in contact with the first alignment layer. The second alignment layer induces a second pretilt angle θ2 in the range of 20°-65° between the liquid crystal layer in contact with the second alignment layer. The liquid crystal layer is capable of maintaining a stable bend state or a stable splay state at zero bias voltage and is switchable between the stable bend state and the stable splay state when a switching energy is applied in operation to the liquid crystal layer.
Abstract:

Also provided herein are vectors and host cells comprising those nucleic acid sequences, chimeric polypeptide molecules comprising the polypeptides of the present invention fused to heterologous polypeptide sequences, antibodies which bind to the polypeptides of the present invention and to methods for producing the polypeptides of the present invention. Furthermore, methods of treating obesity are provided.
Abstract:
A method of fabricating a transistor, comprising the following steps. A silicon semiconductor substrate having a pad oxide portion within an active area is provided. A polysilicon layer is deposited over the silicon semiconductor substrate and over the pad oxide portion. A pad oxide layer is deposited over the polysilicon layer. Shallow isolation trench regions are formed on either side of the active area. The pad oxide layer is removed. The polysilicon layer is etched and removed over the pad oxide portion leaving polysilicon portions between the pad oxide portion and the shallow isolation trench regions. The pad oxide portion is replaced with a gate oxide portion. A gate conductor, having exposed side walls, is formed over the gate oxide portion and between the polysilicon portions. Sidewall spacers are formed on the exposed side walls of the gate conductor with the sidewall spacers contacting the polysilicon portions. Source/drain regions are formed in the active area under the sidewall spacers and under the polysilicon portions. A salicide portion is formed over the gate conductor and salicide portions are formed over the polysilicon portions, whereby the formation of the salicide layers over the polysilicon portions consumes a portion of the polysilicon portions leaving the remainder of the polysilicon layers to form shallow source/drain junctions underneath the polysilicon portion salicide portions.
Abstract:
Transducer assembly for an offshore drilling riser, in an example, includes a spool for connecting into the riser and a protrusion extending around the side wall of the spool. A recess extends around the protrusion between upper and lower sloping surfaces. Upper transducer bores are spaced around the protrusion and extend from the upper sloping surface downward and inward into the spool bore and lower transducer bores extend from the lower sloping surface upward and inward into the spool bore. A base of a rigid non-metallic material is located in each of the transducer bores. A seal ring extends around a cylindrical exterior portion of each of the bases and one of the transducer bores. An acoustic transducer element is mounted to the outer end of each of the bases. The transducer assembly can detect drilling fluid and form sealing.
