Abstract:
Disclosed is a golf ball comprising a core covered with a cover, wherein the cover is formed of a resin composition containing, as a major component, a mixture composed of (A) an ionomer resin of lithium salt of ethylene-(meta)acrylic acid copolymer, (B) an ionomer resin of bivalent metal salt of ethylene-(meta)acrylic acid ester-(meta)acrylic acid terpolymer, and (C) a partially saponified resin of ethylene-(meta)acrylic acid ester copolymer.
Abstract:
A solid golf ball basically comprises a solid core composed of a three-layered structure, and a cover for coating the solid core therewith. The solid core comprises an inner layer, an intermediate layer having a Shore D hardness of 45 to 65, and an outer layer having a hardness lower than that of the intermediate layer. The inner layer has a hardness which is set to be lower than the hardness of the intermediate layer.
Abstract:
A medical alarming system for delivering an alarm in response to any abnormal change arising during the monitoring of a patient's physiological signals, and which causes less stress in the patient from less disturbance to his or her sleep. The system a) evaluates whether a change in the output from a physiological sensor is normal or not, thereby determining the occurrence of abnormal change; b) detects the image of the patient's bedside; c) evaluates whether the current image of the bedside agrees with a predetermined criteria; d) determines the appropriate type of alarm to be actuated; and e) delivers the determined alarm.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a pump by vessel oscillation including a vessel having an inlet for liquid and an outlet opening in a specific tangential direction of an outer peripheral portion thereof. The vessel is oscillated in a specific direction to outflow the liquid through the outlet opening. Accordingly, the liquid in the interior of the vessel undergoes a simple centrifugal motion and when the pump is used for a blood circulation device such as an artificial heart or assisted circulation device, the blood is completely shut off from outside and isolated from entry of various germs, air, foreign matter, etc. The pump is simple is construction and excellent in reliability and durability.

Abstract:
A tomographic system displays plural tomographic images, a relative distance between the tomographic images, whereby the operator can see the displayed data of the relative distances between tomographic images and the length of the treatment device instantaneously, and can therefore determine the insert position or the treatment device for the subject efficiently.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for producing &ohgr;-mercaptoalkylpyridine of the formula (II) wherein R1 and R2 each independently represent hydrogen or methyl, and n represents an integer of 0 to 2, comprising reacting pyridine compound of the formula (I) wherein R1, R2 and n have the same meanings described above, and hydrogen sulfide in the presence of tertiary amine.
Abstract:
An integrated heart-lung machine, which includes a blood pump having a casing of a cup-like shape interiorly defining a pump chamber at an intermediate portion thereof for pumping in and out blood from a blood inlet to a guide flange formed at opposite ends of the casing; a rotor having a rotary member securely fixed to the fore end thereof within the pump chamber and journalled in the guide flange; an artificial lung of a doughnut-like or cylindrical shape connected contiguously to a blood flow passage in the guide flange and concentrically with the rotor; a stator detachably fitted in an intermediate portion between the rotor and the artificial lung; and a pedestal base located at one side of the artificial lung and provided with a blood outlet in communication with the artificial lung. Accordingly, influent blood to the pump chamber is sent into the artificial lung through the blood passage by the pumping action of the rotor, and is refreshed by contact with air or oxygen in the lung, which is maintained in a heated state by the stator, and returned to the patient's body through the blood outlet. This arrangement permits minimizing of the length of the blood circulating passages to and through the machine and permits shortening and minimizing of the blood passages interconnecting the blood pump, artificial lung and blood filter, while preventing blood contamination and leaks as well as blood cell destruction. Easy installation and handling is also permitted in a sanitary region on a bed or on an operating table.
Abstract:
An image displayer 7 displays image data correlated to a plurality of block regions. An image selector 9 receives a selection of a displayed arbitrary block region and a selection of modifying an image mode of the image data corresponding to the selected block region. An image processor 11 executes processing of modifying the image data corresponding to the selected block region, to the selected image mode and displaying this modified image data in the image displayer 7. When modified image data displayed in the image displayer 7 is selected and determined, an image replacement section (image selector) 9 replaces image data portion before modification, with the modified image data whose image mode is modified. As a result, since the image data is previewed and the image mode is modified before printing, a desired expected print mode can be obtained.
Abstract:
The image forming apparatus comprises:an area extraction portion for detecting a boundary between a not-printed area and an effective image area which is not a not-printed part in image data in both the fast scan and slow scan directions and for extracting one or a plurality of the effective image areas; a sheet selection portion for in forming an image selecting the smallest possible sheet of the sheets which have a size to accommodate the image to be formed and are used by the apparatus; and an image forming portion for forming the image on the sheet selected which the sheet selection portion selects based on the image data in the effective image area extracted by the area extraction portion.
