Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure disclose methods and systems for heat exchange in an opto-fluidic instrument. The opto-fluidic instrument includes a sample interface module (SIM), an illumination module, a camera module, and a reagent deck. A coolant from a coolant reservoir is directed into one or more of the modules so that heat exchange occurs at each module with the coolant. The heated coolant from the one or more modules flows to a radiator for cooling, for example, with fans flowing ambient air over the radiator, before the cooled coolant is returned to the coolant reservoir for subsequent use in cooling the modules.

Abstract: A calibration device is disclosed. The device comprises an array of teaching pendants. The device comprises a translation actuator configured to translate the array of teaching pendants to a set of x and y positions, wherein the x and y positions are measured in a plane substantially parallel to a floor of an instrument deck. The device comprises a plurality of height actuators configured to move each of the teaching pendants in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane. One or more of the teaching pendants contact one or more teaching objects of an array of teaching objects above the instrument deck as a result of a position of the array of teaching pendants.

Abstract: The invention provides microfluidic chip holders, systems containing them, and methods of microfluidic chip removal therefrom that allow easy, reproducible release and removal of microfluidic chips from the holders. Holders of the invention include latching mechanisms that hold a chip securely in position when locked and eject the chip when unlocked, allowing easier grasping of the chip and reducing the likelihood that the fluidic contents of the chip are disturbed during removal.
