Abstract:
A biological sterilization indicator, system, and methods of determining the effectiveness of a sterilization process. The biological sterilization indicator can include a locus of spores, a reservoir containing a liquid, and a sterilant path positioned to provide fluid communication between ambience and the locus of spores. The reservoir can have a closed state in which the reservoir is not in fluid communication with the locus of spores and an open state in which the reservoir is in fluid communication with the locus of spores. The biological sterilization indicator system can include the biological sterilization indicator and a detection device adapted to be coupled to the biological sterilization indicator. In some embodiments, the method can include assaying the spores for a detectable change in a characteristic, and detecting substantially all of the detectable change.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a first embodiment of the new design for an electronic reading apparatus; FIG. 2 is a front view thereof; FIG. 3 is a back view thereof; FIG. 4 is a left side view thereof; FIG. 5 is a right side view thereof; FIG. 6 is a top view thereof; FIG. 7 is a bottom view thereof; FIG. 8 is a perspective view showing another embodiment of the new design for the electronic reading apparatus; FIG. 9 is a front view thereof; FIG. 10 is a back view thereof; FIG. 11 is a left side view thereof; FIG. 12 is a right side view thereof; FIG. 13 is a top view thereof; and FIG. 14 is a bottom view thereof. The portions of the electronic reading apparatus in FIGS. 1-14 shown in broken lines are included to show features that form no part of the claimed design. For example, FIGS. 8, 9, 11-13 show a pattern of LEDs from beneath the claimed surface in dashed lines. The pattern of LEDs do not form part of the claimed design. The pattern of LEDs are further shown illuminating radially with dashed lines and the radial illumination does not form part of the claimed design.

Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a reading apparatus that a well formed from a portion of a housing. The well dimensioned to receive at least a portion of a sterilization indicator having spores. The reading apparatus can also have a heating element thermally coupled to a portion of the well and an excitation source to excite the substance in the sterilization indicator. The reading apparatus can have a sterilization indicator activation circuit for detecting activation of the sterilization indicator. The excitation source is positioned such that light from the excitation source is directed into the well. A color sensor can be positioned adjacent the well to receive reflected light from the sterilization indicator.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to an electronic device having a housing that includes a major side portion having a curved major surface and an inside major surface, the major side portion comprises a first section and a second section each having different opacities. An aspect of the present disclosure is that the housing is not powder coated, or painted. The electronic device can have a display comprising an array of display elements surface mounted on a rigid printed circuit board such that the array of display elements are planar, a display element from the array of display elements is aligned with the second section such that light is transmitted through the second section and projected onto the curved major surface.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for processing sample processing devices. The system can include a sample processing device comprising a detection chamber, a motor configured to rotate the sample processing device about an axis of rotation, and an optical module operatively positioned relative to the sample processing device and configured to determine whether a selected volume of material is present in the detection chamber of the sample processing device. The method can include rotating the sample processing device about an axis of rotation, and determining whether a selected volume of material is present in the detection chamber, while rotating the sample processing device. In some embodiments, determining whether a selected volume of material is present can be performed by optically interrogating the detection chamber for an optical property of the material.
