Abstract: For a programmable direct current (DC)-DC converter application, a driver system includes a switched mode power circuit for providing a DC power signal to an electrical load and a control block. Control block includes interfaces coupled to receive at least one real-time input signal from a low voltage region of the switched mode power circuit and to provide at least one control signal to the low voltage region. Control block configures the switched mode power circuit to provide the DC power signal having at least one power parameter within a tolerance of a power configuration setting value of the electrical load. Control block responds to the at least one real-time input signal from the low voltage region to adjust operation of the low voltage region via the at least one control signal. Low voltage region can include a plurality of switched converter circuits.

Abstract: A multi-stage driver system includes a switched mode power circuit for providing a direct current (DC) power signal to an electrical load and a control block. Control block includes interfaces coupled to receive at least one real-time input signal from a high voltage region or a low voltage region of the switched mode power circuit and to provide at least one control signal to the high voltage region or the low voltage region. Control block configures the switched mode power circuit to provide the DC power signal having at least one power parameter within a tolerance of a power configuration setting value of the electrical load. Abstract: Lighting devices are disclosed. One lighting device includes a housing, a light source, and a panel. The light source is mounted within the housing and configured to emit light sufficient for general illumination of an area. The panel is supported by the housing at a location to receive light from the light source at one or more light input surfaces of the panel and output the received light from the light source via a light output surface of the panel facing the area. The light propagates within material of the panel from the one or more light input surfaces to the light output surface. The light output surface of the panel comprises a noise reduction structure.

Abstract: Examples of a lighting and display type luminaire use relatively transparent lighting devices. In such a luminaire, a light transmissive element of the lighting device is coupled to an output of a display device. For example, an edge lit lighting device includes an optical waveguide and one or more illumination light sources coupled to supply light to/through a surface along an edge or periphery of the waveguide. The waveguide allows emission of illumination light through a front surface. A display is coupled to a back surface of the waveguide. During display operations, the waveguide is sufficiently transparent to allow image display light to pass through the waveguide for emission through the front surface of the waveguide. Another example utilizes a light transmissive OLED (organic light emitting diode) panel as the relatively transparent lighting device.

Abstract: An example lighting device has a luminaire. The luminaire includes an illumination light source matrix including illumination light sources configured to be driven by electrical power to emit light rays for illumination lighting. The luminaire further includes an optical lens positioned and configured to extend over the illumination light source matrix and including an input surface coupled to receive incoming light rays emitted by the illumination light sources and an output surface. Both the input surface and the output surface each include various portions to refract or total internally reflect the incoming light rays emitted by the illumination light sources passing through to shape or steer the illumination lighting into an outputted beam pattern. A coupled illumination light source driver selectively controls the illumination light sources individually or in combination to adjust the outputted beam pattern from the optical lens.

Abstract: The disclosed examples relate to methods and systems facilitate self-healing of regions of electrowetting devices. Electrowetting devices may be coupled to a switchable AC/DC electrical power supply that provides AC power to the electrowetting device to control electrowetting device operation and DC power to promote self-healing of the electrowetting device. A monitoring circuit outputs a signal in response to electrical power supply operating characteristic changes due to a failure of the electrowetting device's dielectric. The controller, responding to the signal, switches the power supply output from AC power to DC power to the electrowetting device. In response to the DC power, the electrowetting device responds by healing the degraded dielectric. When the failure is determined to be corrected, the power supply output is switched from DC power to AC power to the electrowetting device. The number of times self-healing is applied may be tracked for future analysis.

Abstract: A multi-stage driver system includes a switched mode power circuit for providing power to different electrical load(s). Multi-stage driver system includes a control block including at least one microcontroller coupled to control operations of the switched mode power circuit. Switched mode power circuit includes a high voltage region, a low voltage region, and an isolation barrier. High voltage region of the switched mode power circuit includes a switched rectifier and a switched bridge circuit configured to produce a high voltage bidirectional pulse train signal for output to an isolation barrier. Low voltage region of the switched mode power circuit includes a rectification circuit coupled to the isolation barrier and at least one switched converter circuit coupled to the rectification circuit. Control block receives real-time input signals (e.g., analog voltage reading(s)) from the high and low voltage regions and responsively produces control signals to the high and low voltage regions.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a lighting system including a luminaire having a lighting device and a sound reduction device. The lighting device includes an illumination output surface, which is at least partially reflective with respect to an audio wave from outside the luminaire. The lighting device also includes an illumination light source configured to generate illumination light for emission through the illumination output surface for illumination of an area. The sound reduction device includes a pick up microphone and an audio output source. The pick up microphone is configured to detect incoming audio waves in a vicinity of the luminaire. The lighting system further includes a circuitry including a sound reduction controller coupled to the pick up microphone and the audio output source of the sound reduction device. The sound reduction controller is configured to operate the audio output source to control sound at least in vicinity of the illuminated area associated with the incoming audio waves.

Abstract: An example configurable lighting device includes a controllable general illumination device configured to output illumination light sufficient for general illumination of an area and a display configured to output light as a representation of an image into the area. The display is co-located with the general illumination device such that an available output region of the display towards the area at least substantially overlaps an available output region of the general illumination device towards the area. The lighting device has a light output surface configured and located such that light output from the general illumination device and light output from the display propagate out via the light output surface. The lighting device also has a noise reduction structure.
