Abstract: The invention relates to a glass including, as represented by mol % based on elements: 8-25% of P; 8-40% of Sn; 20-80% of O; and 1-50% of F, in which the glass has a glass transition temperature Tg of 300° C. or lower, and the glass gives an infrared absorption spectrum satisfying A3240/A3100 of 0.6-1.2, where the A3100 is an absorbance per 1-mm thickness at a wavenumber of 3,100 cm−1 and the A3240 is an absorbance per 1-mm thickness at a wavenumber of 3,240 cm−1.

Abstract: The present invention provides a polymer optical waveguide having a core, an under cladding and an over cladding, in which: the polymer optical waveguide has a first section on one end side in the light propagation direction where no portion of the over cladding exists and the core and the under cladding are exposed, and a second section on the other end side in the light propagation direction where the core is covered with the under cladding and the over cladding; and a relative refractive index difference among the core, the under cladding and the over cladding, a core width and core height in an end surface at the one end side of the first section, and a core width and core height in an end surface at the other end side of the second section satisfy predetermined relationships.

Abstract: A glass includes, as represented by mol % of element: 12% to 16% of P; 16% to 21% of Sn; 50% to 60% of O; 5% to 15% of F; 0% to 3% of Zn; 0% to 1% of Si; 0% to 1% of B; and 0% to 3% of Al, and (Sn+Zn)/P is 1.25 to 1.55. A glass transition temperature Tg is 80° C. to 200° C. When an absorbance per 1 mm thickness at a wave number of 3100 cm−1 is defined as A3100 and an absorbance per 1 mm thickness at a wave number of 3240 cm−1 is defined as A3240 in an infrared absorption spectrum, A3240/A3100 is 0.6 to 1.2.
