Abstract: A glass plate processing method for dividing a glass plate by a separation line that divides a main surface of the glass plate into two regions, includes: moving an irradiation point of a first laser beam along the separation line, and forming a crack extending from the separation line diagonally with respect to the main surface, in a cross-section orthogonal to the separation line; after the crack is formed, moving an irradiation point of a second laser beam along the separation line, and forming a modified portion, in the cross-section, on a virtual line extending in a direction perpendicular to the main surface, from a tip of the crack towards a center of a thickness of the glass plate; and after the modified portion is formed, applying stress to the glass plate and forming a new crack spanning from the tip of the crack to the modified portion.

Abstract: A method for producing a glass substrate that has a desired shape and is obtained from a glass plate, the method includes: emitting a first laser beam to the glass plate to form a scribe line over an entire thickness of the glass plate, the scribe line defining a contour line of the glass substrate having the desired shape; and performing a fusion-cutting at a position away from the scribe line on a side opposite to the desired shape and removing an unnecessary region of the glass plate along the scribe line to obtain the glass substrate having the desired shape along the contour line.

Abstract: A large plate includes a first main surface and a second main surface, and is separated into a first small plate and a second small plate at a separation surface. Abstract: A glass substrate includes a first major surface, a second major surface, an end surface, a first boundary surface, a second boundary surface, and a bent portion in which the first major surface is bent so as to be concave and the second major surface is bent so as to be convex. The bent portion includes a portion in which a distance D1 from the end surface to the first major surface in a tangential direction, extending from the end surface toward the first major surface, of the glass substrate is longer than a distance D2 from the end surface to the second major surface in a tangential direction, extending from the end surface toward the second major surface, of the glass substrate. A difference between the distance D1 and the distance D2 is 50 μm or larger.
