Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically determining an eruption status and/or primary or permanent tooth type of a target tooth. Methods may include determining tooth shape features of the target tooth from a 3D model of the patient's teeth. The methods may also include normalizing at least some of the tooth shape features using the tooth shape features of one or more reference teeth. The normalized tooth shape features may be applied to a classifier. Applying the normalized tooth shape features to the classifier may include applying either a first level binary classifier or a first level binary classifier and a second level binary classifier to the normalized tooth shape features.

Abstract: A method includes to receive, via a computing device, data representing a plurality of teeth, identify data indicating which of the plurality of teeth are unerupted or erupting, predict at least one characteristic of a tooth of the unerupted or erupting teeth after they have fully erupted using one or more tooth eruption prediction factors, generate new data representing the unerupted or erupting teeth in multiple states of eruption based upon the predicted at least one characteristic of the fully erupted teeth, and generate a series of incremental tooth arrangements with the new data to define a proposed orthodontic treatment based on the new data representing the unerupted or erupting teeth in multiple states of eruption.

Abstract: The example systems, methods, and/or computer-readable media described herein help with design of highly accurate models of un-erupted or partially erupted teeth and help fabricate of aligners for un-erupted or partially erupted teeth. Automated agents that use machine learning models to parametrically represent three-dimensional (3d) virtual representations of teeth as 3D descriptors in a 3D descriptor space are provided herein. In some implementations, the automated agents described herein provide instructions to fabricate aligners for at least partially un-erupted teeth using representative 3D descriptor(s) of a tooth type.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating a treatment plan for arch expansion where a polymeric shell appliance is utilized to generate one or more activation forces that facilitate tooth movement. The polymeric shell appliances may comprise one or more tooth receiving cavities, in which each of the plurality of tooth receiving cavities is shaped and arranged to provide a counter moment of each of the plurality of teeth.

Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for detecting the eruption state (e.g., tooth type and/or eruption status) of a target tooth. A patient's dentition may be scanned and/or segmented. A target tooth may be identified. Dental features, principal component analysis (PCA) features, and/or other features may be extracted and compared to those of other teeth, such as those obtained through automated machine learning systems. A detector can identify and/or output the eruption state of the target tooth, such as whether the target tooth is a fully erupted primary tooth, a permanent partially erupted/un-erupted tooth, or a fully erupted permanent tooth.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses (including software) for optimizing dental treatment plans, including for optimizing the treatment plans using dental aligners. These methods and apparatuses may optimize a treatment plan by estimating a difference between a target set of tooth position and a predicted set of tooth positions using the treatment plan using a prediction network trained to use multiple translational and rotational directions for individual teeth as well as reaction forces on the individual teeth based on adjacent teeth.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for orthodontic treatment planning for dentitions with un-erupted or partially erupted teeth. Three-dimensional (3D) descriptors may be indexed on a database by tooth type, with each 3D descriptor including spatial parameters associated with teeth of the same tooth type. The 3D descriptors may have a minimum distance to other 3D descriptors in 3D descriptor space. Methods may include receiving a tooth type of an at least partially un-erupted tooth of a patient, and estimating a shape of the at least partially un-erupted tooth based on at least one of the 3D descriptors with the same tooth type of the at least partially un-erupted tooth.
