    Abstract: Tertiary perfluoroalkyl cyanates are prepared by reacting the corresponding tertiary perfluoroalkoxide with cyanogen chloride or cyanogen bromide. The cyanates are novel compounds useful as intermediates in the preparation of low surface energy compounds useful as repellent coatings.
