Abstract: This disclosure describes a voice-controlled electronic device that includes a housing and a mounting component. The housing includes a translucent cover attached to a cylindrical-shaped unibody enclosure. The electronic device further includes a microphone array disposed near a first end within the housing, a speaker box disposed within the housing, and a printed circuit board assembly disposed within the housing. Additionally, the electronic device includes a camera disposed within the housing and attached to the printed circuit board assembly, and a depth sensor that includes a depth camera and a projector. In some instances, the camera and the depth sensor point substantially in a direction of the translucent cover. Furthermore, the electronic device includes a light ring that protrudes from a surface of the translucent display and surrounds a lens of the camera.

Abstract: Described herein are electronic devices that includes a display stack having a cover component atop a lightguide component and a display component below the lightguide component. In some instances, the cover component including an antiglare etching applied to a top surface of a coverglass and a touch pattern applied to a bottom surface of the coverglass. In some cases, an optically clear adhesive layer formed from two types of optically clear adhesive may be located between the cover component and the lightguide component and a ring adhesive may be applied to around an outer edge of the cover component, the optically clear adhesive and the lightguide component.

Abstract: An autonomous mobile device (AMD) builds up electrostatic charges from moving and generates heat from the operation of internal components. In addition to possible user discomfort, electrostatic discharges may damage sensors and electronics. Electrostatic charges are dissipated from the AMD using an electrostatic dissipation structure and conductive wheels. A conductive path between a chassis ground, the electrostatic dissipation structure, and the conductive wheels improves the dissipation of electrostatic charges. Electrostatic charges are also dissipated from components by mounting the components using conductive materials. Sensors may be affixed to a support structure that is affected by thermal expansion. Thermal expansion may distort precise positioning of sensors, reducing accuracy of sensor data. An elastomeric foam may be used to mount sensors to a support structure, allowing for thermal expansion without distorting the positioning of the sensors.

Abstract: An autonomous mobile device has a main body and an extensible mast to raise and lower a payload, such as a camera, relative to the main body. The mast may comprise a set of telescoping sections, with each section comprising two or more pieces that are joined during assembly. A motor moves a flexible rack between a first spool and the mast to raise or lower the mast. For example, during extension a motor-driven pinion engages teeth on the flexible rack, pulling the rack from the first spool and pushing up the mast. A cable stored on a second spool may be extended and retracted with the flexible rack. The cable transfers one or more of data or power between the main body and the payload. A sensor may be used to detect features on the flexible rack to provide data about how far the flexible rack has been extended.

Abstract: A front light component for electronic devices that include displays for rendering content using a light guide to control illumination for a front light display. A high reflectivity “white” tape is used under and adjacent to the light guide to improve overall uniformity of the light beams. The high reflectivity tape may also be selected to be of a controlled white hue to compensate for variances in color of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) where the LED color is slightly off from ideal white. In this way the complementary color of the high reflectivity tape with the color of the LED will cause the output spectrum to be uniform and white. This disclosure also describes techniques for assembling electronic devices in a component stack to provide enhanced display uniformity and improved reading experience.
