Abstract: A fixture includes a shelf upon which items may be placed. In one implementation, the shelf is supported by four load cells that provide load cell data that may be used to calculate weight data for the load on the shelf. The load cells are mounted underneath a frame, with an upper portion of a load mount extending upward through the frame and engaged to the shelf. The shelf and the frame include stiffeners to increase rigidity, improving the quality of the load cell data. Electronics and a wiring harness are located underneath the frame. In this configuration, assembly of the fixture may be accomplished completely from the underside, simplifying assembly.

Abstract: Inventory locations in a materials handling facility may be used to store items of various shapes and sizes. Described is an auto-facing unit designed to stow and arrange items against a front of the unit in a uniform fashion. The auto-facing unit may include one or more sensors to generate sensor data. The sensor data may be used to determine a quantity of items remaining in the auto-facing unit. The auto-facing unit and associated structures may be readily reconfigured to accommodate changes in store layout, product presentation, and so forth.

Abstract: An inventory location, such as a shelf, may be used to stow different items. The shelf is divided into a plurality of adjacent lanes, some of which may be grouped into a cluster. Items are placed upon the lanes of the cluster. Each lane includes one or more weight sensors to obtain weight data about a load on the lane. Based on the weight data and physical layout data for the shelf, one or more hypotheses may be determined for describing interactions, such as a pick or place of an item, occurring at the lanes of a cluster. One of the hypotheses may be selected as a solution for describing the interaction and used to maintain inventory quantities of items at the shelf.

Abstract: An inventory location such as a shelf may be used to stow different types of items. The shelf may be equipped with a plurality of lanes arranged parallel to one another. Items may rest upon two or more of the lanes. Each lane includes a weight sensor that provides weight data about a load on the lane. Based on the weight data and item data indicative of individual weights of those items stowed on the shelf, interaction data indicative of an activity such as a pick or place of an item may be determined. The interaction data may specify what item was picked or placed, quantity of that item that was picked or placed, and so forth. Data from other sensors, such as a camera, may be used to determine the interaction data.

Abstract: An airflow duct can be arranged at least in part in a zone alongside an electronics board mounted to a motherboard. The airflow duct can include an inlet end arranged to receive airflow into the airflow duct. A closed end wall can be arranged opposite the inlet end. A set of walls may extend from the inlet end to the closed end wall and include a top wall, a bottom wall, a first lateral side wall, and a second lateral side wall. Orifices can be included in the set of walls and can be arranged to direct airflow from within the airflow duct toward heat-producing components borne by the electronics board.

Abstract: A server placement controller determines a placement location for a custom server based on infrastructure support system requirements of the custom server and based on infrastructure support system capacities at respective unoccupied slots of a server mounting structure of a data center. In some embodiments, a server placement controller may utilize a hierarchical optimization process to select a placement location for a custom server, wherein the selected placement location meets the requirements of the custom server while also optimizing use of one or more infrastructure support systems, such as power infrastructure support system, a networking infrastructure support system, a cooling infrastructure support system, or other infrastructure support systems of a data center.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a system for identifying users and/or their companions, utilizing the behavior and gestures of a user's companion to assist the user, and developing user paths based on user and/or companion preferences. A companion profile may be established to identify the companion and associated the companion with the user. Likewise, a user pattern that includes both the user and the companion may be established and used to track the location of the user and/or companion while in the materials handling facility.

Abstract: A near real-time custom server system includes robots deployed at a data center location and a server assembly controller configured to receive requests for near-real time custom servers. The requests may specify one or more characteristics for the custom servers and the server assembly controller may cause the robots deployed at the data center location to assemble the custom servers and install the custom servers in a server mounting structure of the data center in near real-time. For custom server types requested in lower volumes, the custom servers may be assembled autonomously by respective ones of the robots; and for custom server types requested in higher volumes, the custom servers may be assembled by respective groups of robots working in coordination with one another via an assembly line.

Abstract: A computer system includes a mist cooling system. The mist cooling system suspended droplets of dielectric fluid in air to form a mist and conveys the mist to heat producing components of the computer system. The liquid droplets of the mist wet the heat producing components and remove waste heat as part of a phase change from a liquid phase to a vapor phase. Vaporized dielectric fluid is condensed via a heat exchanger in a chassis of the computer system and is returned to a reservoir for use in generating mist.

Abstract: Point-of-sale systems may include stations having interactive monitors mounted at specific heights and angles that permit such monitors to be viewed and interacted with by an associate or a customer. Some point-of-sale systems may include two stations, each having a monitor aligned in opposite directions, a user of one monitor may not view the other monitor, and vice versa. The point-of-sale systems may also include instrument readers (e.g., credit card readers or NFC readers) for recognizing payment instruments of customers and identifying the customers based on the payment instruments. Each of the monitors and instrument readers may be linked by cables to computer devices that are securely housed in a chamber above which the monitors are mounted. The monitors and other components are installed in a modular fashion, and may be independently installed or replaced without requiring an installation or replacement of the entire point-of-sale system.
