Described is a system and method for transporting interference-related control data and other information between nodes in a wireless network, using a control channel that is distinct from a content channel used to transport content. The control channel may be a different channel in the same unlicensed band as the content channel, a channel in a different unlicensed band, or a channel in a licensed band, and thereby not subject to the same interference-related problems that the unlicensed content channel may experience. As a result, management information for adjusting the content channel's communication parameters may still be communicated between the nodes, whereby mitigation actions may occur. For example, the content channel may be changed to another frequency, compression may be implemented or varied, and/or the data transfer rate may be varied. The control data can also be used to change the control channel's communication parameters.

One exemplary system that facilitates large-scale reporting of health-related data comprises a data collection component, a database and an aggregation component. The data collection component can collect health-related data on a large-scale from a non-selected population. The database can store at least some of the health-related data. The aggregation component can facilitate automatically ascertaining at least one pattern from the health-related data at least in part by applying one or more statistical, data-mining or machine-learning techniques to the database. One exemplary method of extracting health observations from information obtained on a macro-scale comprises receiving information about a plurality of self-selected subjects, pooling the information, mining the pooled information at least in part by employing a data-mining algorithm to infer one or more health observations from the pooled information, and monetizing the one or more health observations.

A system and method are disclosed which enable a user to locate target data from a temporal broadcast of data. The system includes a transportable identifier that represents the target data. The identifier further includes metadata that provides sufficient information about the broadcast of the target data such that the target data can be acquired when broadcast. The transportable identifier further may be sent to one or more other users to enable such users to locate the broadcast of the target data. As a result, one or more users may employ identifiers to locate the broadcast of the target data and, in turn, monitor and/or store the target data from the temporal broadcast.
