A method of producing layers of lead and its alloys on workpieces made of ferrous alloys comprising dipping the workpieces to be coated into a two-layer bath, the upper layer of which is a bath of aluminum or its alloys, and the bottom layer of which is a bath of lead or its alloys. The workpieces are then taken out of the deeper layer of the bath of lead and its alloys by pulling them through the upper layer of the bath of aluminum and its alloys, or by pulling the workpieces through the bath of metal, provided in a vessel connected with the bottom layer of the bath.The temperature of both baths, the upper bath and of the bath in the vessel connected with the bottom bath, is maintained within the range of 150.degree. C to 900.degree. C. The temperatures of the bath of the upper layer, of the bath of the bottom layer, and of the bath in the vessel connected with the bath of the bottom layer are equal or differ from each other by 50.degree. C to 750.degree. C.

The work-pieces are mechanically cleaned, degreased and washed, and then etched in an aqueous solution containing 0.5-1.0% by weight of citric acid, and 16-24% by weight of hydrochloric acid, having a temperature of 15.degree.-30.degree. C. in a time not shorter than 1 minute, they are dipped in an agitated aqueous solution of the flux, containing 1.8-2.5% by weight of potassium fluoride, 0.8-1.5% by weight of sodium fluoride, and 1.5-3.0% by weight of potassium fluorozirconate, having a temperature of 40.degree.-80.degree. C. After at least two minutes of holding in the flux, the work-pieces are dried and finally dipped in a melt of aluminum or alloys thereof. Alternatively a flux having composition 1.5-2.0% by weight of potassium fluoride, 1.5-2.0% by weight of sodium fluoride, 6.0-10.0% by weight of sodium tetraborate and 2.5-5.0% by weight of acetic acid, having a temperature of 15.degree.-40.degree. C. may be used, for a period not shorter than 2 minutes.

An inorganic fireproof protective coating composition consisting of 5 to 15 percent by weight of a powdered silicate-oxide sinter or alloy, 15 to 35 percent by weight of an anhydrous powdered alumosilicate substance, and 50 to 80 percent of the acid phosphates of aluminum, chromium, magnesium or calcium, or mixtures thereof. All three ingredients of the coating form a suspensoid upon mixing and thereafter they are subjected to self-hardening at room temperature. The hardening process may be accelerated by heating up to 150.degree.C. The coating is designed for protection of products made of readily inflammable materials, particularly of wood and of wood-like materials, against destruction by fire or glow.

Radiator particularly for blast furnaces has a shape of plate and outer box 1 made of cast iron with 1% addition of chromium. Inside outer wall of the box there is installed a cooling coil 2. From the interior the radiator is provided with a lining of semi-graphite sections.Method of production of the radiator consists in preparing a form of cement mix for casting the box in a floor by using a model, after hardening mold cavity is spreaded with a protective coating, preferably water-graphite one and after the mold is dried there are placed semi-graphite sections. To the top portion of the form, made of chamotte mass, there is fixed a cooling coil and the whole form is filled with cast iron by the hitherto applied method. For cast iron there is used the addition of 1% of chromium, being introduced in a form of self-meltable ferrochromium preferably into the vat.
