    摘要: According to one embodiment, a disk drive has a magnetic disk and a magnetic head having a spin-torque oscillator. The disk drive further has a head amplifier IC configured to supply a write signal and a drive signal to the magnetic head. The write signal corresponds to write data. The drive signal is supplied to generate a high-frequency magnetic field. The head amplifier IC continuously supplies a drive signal of normal level to the spin-torque oscillator, and supplies a drive signal of high level higher than the normal level, only for a prescribed time after the polarity inversion of the write signal.

    摘要: There is disclosed a disk drive having a magnetic device for applying a direct current magnetic field to the disk 1 by using a disk with a double-layered structure in which a soft magnetic layer is provided on a lower layer of the recording magnetic layer. The magnetic device generates a direct current magnetic field to uniform a magnetic domain state of the soft magnetic layer of the disk. The intensity of the direct current is larger than the anisotropic magnetic field of the soft magnetic layer and is smaller than the coercive force of the recording magnetic layer. As a consequence, the stabilization of the magnetic domain state of the soft magnetic layer of the disk can be realized to make an attempt of decreasing the magnetic noise and establishing stabilization with respect to the disturbance magnetic field.

    摘要: A disk drive of perpendicular magnetic recording method including a read head comprising a GMR element and a drive using a double-layered disk medium, is disclosed. In the magnetic field response characteristic of the GMR element, the relationship between the degree of nonlinearity and a pulse width at 50% threshold (PW50) of a differentiated read signal is used. The degree of nonlinearity of the GMR element is adjusted such that the PW50 is smaller than the maximum value. The read channel comprises a differentiation circuit for converting the read signal output from the GMR element into the differentiated read signal.
