The music composition graphical user interface displays a plurality of actionable menu items. A first collection of actionable menu items is provided to the graphical user interface from an internal source. A music remixing algorithm incorporates music rules and can remix the music piece in a manner where only one musical component is remixed at a given time. A music remix database is accessible via the graphical user interface. A plurality of music remix data is organized based in part on a music style parameter. A second collection of actionable menu items is provided from the music remix database to the graphical user interface via a communications network. The first and second collection of actionable menu items displayed in a seamless manner.

    摘要: A method of playing music using a computing system in which MIDI events are synchronized with samples is disclosed. A sequence of MIDI events is provided. At least one of the MIDI events includes delta time parameter data, and the MIDI events are provided to a digital signal processing resource. Audio stream events are processed, and one or more of the audio stream events has associated therewith audio sample data, and the audio sample data is provided to the digital signal processing resource; the audio sample data is not provided from a MIDI sound bank. A first MIDI event is provided that is configured to include delta time parameter data associated with the intended playback timing of at least one audio stream event. The audio stream event is rhythmically synchronized with the sequence of MIDI events using the first MIDI event. The first MIDI event may be an NRPN MIDI command. The audio sample data may be decoded before the audio sample data is provided to the digital signal processing resource, and as a first step the audio sample data may be encoded in a compressed audio format. The digital signal processing resource may consist of a first section associated with the MIDI events and a second section associated with the audio stream data. The audio stream data may be preloaded using a second MIDI event associated with an earlier point in time in the music than the first MIDI event. The second MIDI event may be processed in response to user input.

    摘要: Systems and methods for creating, modifying, interacting with and playing music are provided, preferably employing a top-down process, where the user is provided with a musical composition that may be modified and interacted with and played and/or stored (for later play). The system preferably is provided in a handheld form factor, and a graphical display is provided to display status information, graphical representations of musical lanes or components which preferably vary in shape as musical parameters and the like are changed for particular instruments or musical components such as a microphone input or audio samples. An interactive auto-composition process preferably employs musical rules and a pseudo random number generator, which may also incorporate randomness introduced by timing of user input or the like. The user may quickly begin creating desirable music in accordance with one or a variety of musical styles, with the user modifying the auto-composed (or previously created) musical composition, either for a real time performance and/or for storing and subsequent playback. An analysis process flow also is disclosed for using pre-existing music as input(s) to an algorithm to derive music rules that may be used as part of a music style in a subsequent auto-composition process. In addition, the present invention makes use of node-based music generation as part of a system and method to broadcast and receive music data files, which are then used to generate and play music. By incorporating the music generation process into a node/subscriber unit, bandwidth requirements are lowered, and consequently the bandwidth can preferably be used for additional features such as node-to-node and node-to-base music data transmission. The present invention is characterized by the broadcast of relatively small data files that contain various parameters sufficient to describe the music to the node/subscriber music generator. In addition, improved audio synthesis in a portable environment is provided with the present invention by performing audio synthesis in a manner that simplifies design requirements and/or minimizes cost, while still providing quality audio synthesis features targeted for a portable system (e.g., portable telephone). In addition, problems associated with the tradeoff between overall sound quality and memory requirements in a MIDI sound bank are addressed in the present invention by providing systems and methods for a reduced memory size footprint MIDI sound bank. In addition, music ringtone alert tone remixing, navigation, and purchasing capabilities are disclosed that are particularly advantageous in the context of a portable communications device, such as a cellular telephone, in connection with a communications network.

    摘要: A method for playing a song in a handheld device is disclosed. A visual representation for a plurality of musical components is provided. The visual representation includes a plurality of lanes, with each lane corresponding to one of the musical components. User input is received for one or more musical components, and musical characteristics corresponding to the musical components are modified in accordance with the user input. In order to modify musical characteristics corresponding to a particular musical component, the user selects the particular lane corresponding to the particular musical component. A first user input may be received to modify musical characteristics corresponding to a particular musical component, and the user enters a first level of the visual representation beneath the particular lane and provides user input to modify the musical characteristics corresponding to the particular musical component. A second user input may be received, and in response to the second user input, at least a second level of the visual representation is entered beneath the first level. Program instructions may be executed, and one or more music composition algorithms may be applied to song data in accordance with a song data structure to generate music output for the song. The visual representation may include an animated display synchronized with one or more of the musical components. Modifications to musical data corresponding to a particular musical component may be accompanied by a change in a visual effect corresponding to the modifications to the musical characteristics.
