Embodiments provide an apparatus, a method, a central unit and a computer program for determining information related to precoding. A mobile communication system (300) comprises one or more relay station transceivers (100) being configured, to provide wireless services to one or more mobile transceivers (200) of the mobile communication system (300) via a first radio channel. The one or more relay station transceivers (100) are configured to use wireless backhaul communication to communicate with a central, unit (400) of the mobile communication system (300) via a second radio channel. An apparatus (10) for determining information related to precoding in the mobile communication system (300) comprises one or more interfaces (12) configured to obtain, information related to the first radio channel or an. effective access channel, and to obtain information related to the second radio channel. The apparatus (10) further comprises a control module (14) configured to determine the information related to the precoding based on the information related to the first radio channel or the effective access channel, and based on the information related to the second radio channel.

Embodiments provide an apparatus, a method and a computer program for the transceiver of a mobile communication system. The apparatus (10) is operable in a first transceiver (100) of a mobile communication system. The apparatus (10) comprises a transceiver module (12) comprising interfaces to a plurality of transmit antennas (15). The transceiver module (12) is operable to subdivide the plurality of transmit antennas (15) in a plurality of subgroups using the interfaces, and to form a set of first beam patterns (16) using one or more transmit antennas of a subgroup. The apparatus (10) further comprises a control module (14) operable to determine information related to a quality of a radio link between the first transceiver (100) and the second transceiver (200). The control module (14) is further operable to determine a second beam pattern (18) for communicating with the second transceiver (200) using two or more beam patterns from the set of first beam patterns (16). A number of first beam patterns used to determine the second beam pattern (18) is based on the information related to the quality of the radio link between the first transceiver (100) and the second transceiver (200). The control module (14) is further operable to communicate with the second transceiver (200) using the second beam pattern (18) and the transceiver module (12).

Embodiments provide beamforming apparatuses, methods and a computer programs for a base station transceiver and a mobile transceiver. An apparatus (10) operable in a base station transceiver (100) of a mobile communication system comprises a transceiver module (12) comprising interfaces to a plurality (15) of antennas. The transceiver module (12) is operable to subdivide the plurality (15) of antennas in a plurality of subgroups using the interfaces, and to form a first beam pattern (16) using one or more antennas of a subgroup. The apparatus (10) further comprises a control module (14), which is operable to transmit a synchronization signal using the transceiver module (12) and the first beam pattern (16). The control module (14) is further operable to receive a response signal after transmission of the synchronization signal from a mobile transceiver (200) using the transceiver module (12), to determine a second beam pattern (18) based on the response signal from the mobile transceiver (200). The second beam pattern (18) has a higher antenna gain than the first beam pattern (16), and to transmit a signal to the mobile transceiver (200) using the second beam pattern (18) and the transceiver module (12). The embodiments of the invention relate to a method and a transmitter apparatus for generating and transmitting channel feedback. The method contains the steps of determining at least one first quality value averaged over a long term time interval for a first transmission channel (TC1) from a first antenna system (AS1) of a radio communication system (RCS) to an antenna system (AS) of a network node (MS) containing the transmitter apparatus and at least one second quality value averaged over the long term time interval for at least one second transmission channel (TC2, TC3) from at least one second antenna system (AS2, AS3) of the radio communication system (RCS) to the antenna system (AS) of the network node (MS), determining a distribution of radio resource units of a predefined feedback radio resource based on the at least first quality value and the at least second quality value, transmitting to a receiver apparatus (BS1) a long term feedback containing the at least one first quality value and the at least one second quality value, and transmitting with a short term time interval smaller than or equal to the long term time interval to the receiver apparatus (BS1) a short term feedback containing first short term information for the first transmission channel (TC1) and at least second short term information for the at least second transmission channel (TC2, TC3) using the distribution of radio resource units. The embodiments of the invention further relate to a method and a receiver apparatus for receiving and retrieving channel feedback at a receiver apparatus.
