    Abstract: An atomizing nebulizer for dispensing a substance or medicament is described. The nebulizer is formed with a reservoir base releasably secured to an effluent vent cap that together capture a diffuser and integral dispersing baffle that are further formed with an uptake lumen or channel terminating with a nozzle jet. The diffuser dispersing baffle is positioned relative to the jet nozzle to optimize atomization of any of a number of such substances so as to maximize disbursement of the substance. The reservoir base also incorporates a pressurized fluid-accelerating inlet tube terminated with a metering orifice that cooperates with the nozzle jet when the inlet tube is received within the diffuser uptake lumen or channel. When so received, the nozzle jet axially registers proximate and superior to the orifice to establish a vacuum space that is in fluid communication with a capillary interstice established between the walls of the exterior of the inlet tube and the confronting interior surface of the diffuser lumen or channel. When a pressurized fluid is communicated through the lumen, the orifice, and into the vacuum space towards the nozzle jet, a vacuum develops in the vacuum space that, in combination with the capillary action of the interstice, draws the fluid proximate to the orifice and disperses it into droplets that are then entrained into a fluid stream to be further atomized upon impact with the baffle and then dispensed.

    Abstract: An autofeed mechanism for controlling the flow and level of a fluid. The mechanism includes a body with an inlet chamber and a float chamber. A seat permits fluid communication between the two chambers. A float and a ball cooperate to permit, or deny, access to the seat. Fluid first enters the inlet and fills the chamber and then enters the float chamber by passing through the seat and exiting via the exit. Initially, the weight of the float keeps the ball away from the seat, but eventually the fluid level rises high enough that the action of the float on the ball decreases to a level that is overcome by the buoyant force of the ball and other fluidic forces resulting in the ball moving away from the ball support. Finally, the ball rises enough to seal against the seat thus stopping the flow of fluid.

    Abstract: A respiratory circuit inhalation apparatus is adapted to communicate a fluid stream between at least one air source and a patient and is formed with at least one central body portion defining an interior fluid stream communication passageway. An integrally formed dual function mouthpiece and effluent port projects from an end of the central body to communicate the fluid stream between the air source and a portion of the respiratory circuit that can lead to the patient or other components of the respiratory circuit. An integrally formed ambient fluid port is also formed as part of the inhalation apparatus that projects from the central body portion opposite to the dual function port. As with the other ports, the ambient fluid port also communicates the fluid stream between the interior fluid passageway and the at least one air source. The preferred inhalation apparatus also further includes a medication port that is formed about the central body portion and which includes a baffle or baffle portion that projects into and terminates within the interior fluid passageway. The terminus orifice and exit plane of the baffle preferably projects and terminates within the interior fluid passageway beyond the surface thereof so that liquids pooled within the passageway can be retained therein without draining into the medication port. Any or all of the various ports can be configured to be compatible for use with industry preferred respiratory circuit components and rigid and deformable 22 millimeter tubes.

    Abstract: An autofeed mechanism for controlling the flow and level of a fluid. The mechanism includes a body with an inlet chamber and a float chamber. A seat permits fluid communication between the two chambers. A float and a ball cooperate to permit, or deny, access to the seat. Fluid first enters the inlet and fills the chamber and then enters the float chamber by passing through the seat and exiting via the exit.     Abstract: A heated humidifier including an autofeed mechanism disposed within a humidifier chamber. The autofeed mechanism includes a housing, a float, a stem, and a sealing body. The housing defines an inlet, an outlet, a first chamber connected to the inlet, and a second chamber connected to the outlet and the first chamber by a channel. The float moves within the second chamber with the stem projecting therefrom and through the channel. The sealing body is within the first chamber and cooperates with the stem. In an open state, the sealing body is displaced from the channel to permit filling of the humidifier chamber. In a closed state, the sealing body seals the channel to prevent liquid flow to the outlet. A location of the sealing body relative to the channel is controlled by the float as a function of a humidifier chamber liquid level.

    Abstract: A respiratory circuit inhalation apparatus is adapted to communicate a fluid stream between at least one air source and a patient and is formed with at least one central body portion defining an interior fluid stream communication passageway. Any or all of the various ports can be configured to be compatible for use with industry preferred respiratory circuit components and rigid and deformable 22 millimeter tubes.
