摘要： Examples of reducing data transfer latency caused by state transitions in mobile networks are disclosed. A first disclosed example method comprises, while operating in a first state having fewer available radio resources than would be available in a second state, setting a traffic volume indicator if a wireless device determines that a radio link control (RLC) buffer occupancy is larger than a traffic volume measurement threshold, and sending the traffic volume indicator to a network in a transmitted message other than a CELL UPDATE message having uplink data transmission as an update cause. A second disclosed example method comprises, while operating in a first state, receiving a message that is to cause a wireless device to transition to a second state having fewer available radio resources than are available in the first state, and rejecting the message if the wireless device has pending uplink data to send to a network.

摘要： Apparatus and a method are described for handling inter-radio access technology measurement reports in a radio telecommunications device, the device being operable with a first cellular radio access technology (e.g. UTRAN, E-UTRAN), GERAN and Generic Access Network, the radio telecommunications device being capable of adopting a cellular preferred mode. The method comprises, in the radio telecommunications device, when the radio telecommunications device is in cellular preferred mode and operating with the first cellular radio access technology and the radio telecommunications device is registered with a Generic Access Network Controller that operates as a GERAN network component, and a quality of a signal from the first cellular radio access technology is below a certain threshold and a quality of a signal from the GAN is above a certain threshold and a request has been received to send an inter-RAT measurement report, generating inter-radio access technology measurements and, when there is at least one GERAN cell that satisfies a triggering condition, transmitting a measurement report in respect of the GERAN cell(s) and a measurement report in respect of the generic access network.

摘要： Mobile user equipment for use in a cellular communications environment performs an improved cell selection on transitions out of a connected mode state. The transitions might be from one connected mode state to another or from a connected mode state to idle mode. The improvement in cell selection lies in assembling the list of candidate cells prior to cell selection. In the prior art, the list of candidate cells would usually be restricted to the serving cell or active cells supporting communication between the equipment and the network prior to transition. In embodiments of the invention, the list might comprise cells which are not the serving cell or which are outside the active set, for example a network-preferred cell or cells neighboring the serving cell or cells of the active set.
