Abstract: This disclosure is directed to systems and methods for interference mitigation in satellite communication. For satellite communication, an electronic device may perform a GNSS position fix prior to establishing satellite communication. In some cases, a GNSS downlink frequency band may be close to a satellite uplink frequency band, and as a result a first device communicatively connecting to a satellite downlink frequency band may interfere with one or more other devices in close proximity attempting to connect to the GNSS uplink frequency band, and consequently the first device may prevent the one or more other devices from performing the GNSS position fix. Because of this, one electronic device may block satellite communication for multiple other electronic devices. This may be particularly relevant in situations involving large crowds (e.g., festivals, sporting events), during calamity events, and/or in outdoor scenarios (e.g., group hikes).

Abstract: An electronic device determines a position of a communicaiton hub of a wireless network. In response to determining a position of a communication hub of a wireless communication network, the electronic device may operate one or more actuators to move the device to adjust the orientation of the device relative to the communication hub. As such, the mobile communicating device may adjust the orientation of the device relative to the communication hub to provide more reliable and/or more efficient communication of data.

Abstract: A mobile communication device is configured to receive updated network data, such as updated Content Delivery Network (CDN) data utilized to access a first network, without accessing the first network and a second network, such as a Wi-Fi or cellular network. The mobile communication device periodically transmits, via a peer-to-peer (P2P) network, a beacon signal indicating a network data request for the updated network data. A rate at which the mobile communication device periodically transmits the beacon signal is based on various criteria, such as an origination date of network data stored on the mobile communication device, an amount of time between the origination date and the present date, a battery health of the mobile communication device, and/or various inputs to the mobile communication device. An additional mobile communication device receives the beacon signal and transmits the updated network data to the mobile communication device.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to techniques that may be utilized to transmit radio frequency (RF) signals to an electronic device. A distance that a first electronic device of a plurality of electronic devices is located from a second electronic device of the plurality of electronic devices may be determined. Additionally, that the distance exceeds a first threshold distance may be determined. Whether the first electronic device is communicatively coupled to a cellular network, whether the distance exceeds a second threshold distance that is greater than the first threshold distance, or both are also determined. The RF signals radio frequency (RF) signals to be transmitted to the first electronic device by a satellite based on the first electronic device not being communicatively coupled to the cellular network, the distance exceeding the second threshold, or both.

Abstract: An electronic device may detect a message request to send one or more redundant messages to a response network. The one or more messages may contain information previously sent from the electronic device to the response network. The electronic device may determine an entropy factor corresponding to the relatedness of the one or more messages to previously sent messages, and the electronic device may send one or more redundant bits in the place of the one or more messages if the entropy factor is below a threshold value corresponding to network resources.

Abstract: A communications network may include user equipment that communicates with external equipment. The user equipment may include an antenna, measurement circuitry, control circuitry, and a display. The antenna may receive downlink signals while the user equipment moves through a geographic area. The measurement circuitry may gather wireless performance metric data from the received signals. The control circuitry may determine whether the gathered wireless performance metric data exceeds, for a predetermined time period, a threshold value. The control circuitry may store respective geographic locations of the user equipment at each location in the geographic area where the gathered wireless performance metric data exceeds, for the predetermined time period, the threshold value. The control circuitry may, in response to a trigger condition, control the output device to produce an output that identifies at least one of the stored geographic locations to a user of the user equipment.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and apparatus to adapt operating parameters for satellite signal reception and transmission by a wireless device to mitigate effects of fading due to specular reflections are described herein. The wireless device measures received signal power levels and compares characteristics of the measurements over an observation duration to at least one fading criteria to determine whether to operate in a normal or adaptive mode. While operating in the adaptive mode, the wireless device alternates between high performance mode time periods and low performance mode time periods. The wireless device indicates to a ground station associated with the satellite in which operating mode the wireless device is operating via an uplink data message transmitted during a data cycle at the start of a high or low performance mode time period. The ground station schedules data transmissions accordingly during subsequent data cycles of the high or low performance mode time periods.
