A probe adapter includes a second connector, which mates with the first connector, a signal processing circuit, which is processes the sensor signal, and a second microcircuit, which stores second calibration data with respect to the signal processing circuit. A microcontroller in the adapter receives the first and second calibration data and computes combined calibration data. The adapter includes a third connector, which mates with a fourth connector on a console. The console includes signal analysis circuitry, which analyzes the processed signal using the combined calibration data provided by the probe adapter.

    摘要: The position of an imaging catheter in a body structure such as the heart is automatically controlled by a robotic manipulator such that its field of view at all times includes the distal end of a second catheter that is employed to effect a medical procedure. A processor receives signals from position sensors in the catheters. The processor utilizes the information received from the sensors and continually determines any deviation of the second catheter from the required field of view of the imaging catheter. The processor transmits compensation instructions to the robotic manipulator, which when executed assure that the imaging catheter tracks the second catheter.

    摘要: A method for transmitting control instructions to a sensor in a position tracking system includes generating a drive signal for driving a field generator. A control signal including the control instructions is superimposed on the drive signal. The field generator is driven with the drive signal, so as to generate a field to be sensed by the sensor. The field is detected at the sensor in order to determine position coordinates of the sensor and to demodulate the control signal so as to extract the control instructions. A functionality of the sensor is controlled based on the extracted control instructions.

    摘要: A method for position sensing includes placing at a known position within a body of a subject a reference probe including at least one reference electrode. Electrical currents are passed through the body between the reference electrode and body surface electrodes. Characteristics of the electrical currents are measured and are used to generate an approximation of the known position of the reference probe. A correction factor is determined based on a relationship between the approximation and the known position. A target probe including at least one target electrode is placed within the body of the subject and second electrical currents are passed through the body between the target electrode and the body surface electrodes. Characteristics of the second electrical currents are measured and used to generate a calculated position of the target probe. The correction factor is applied to correct the calculated position.

    摘要: Apparatus for tracking an object includes a position transducer, which is adapted to be fixed to the object. The position transducer includes a digital microcontroller, which includes a plurality of output pins, and which is operative to generate an alternating digital output at a selected frequency on at least one of the output pins. At least one transmit antenna is coupled directly to the at least one of the output pins, so that the at least one antenna transmits a magnetic field at the selected frequency responsively to the alternating digital output. A field sensor senses the magnetic field and generates a signal responsively thereto. A processor receives and processes the signal in order to determine coordinates of the position transducer.
