摘要: A function managing apparatus allows a user to avoid a fault likely to occur in a user terminal before a new function is installed on the user terminal. A function managing apparatus for communicating with a user terminal is provided. Specifically, the function managing apparatus includes a receiving unit, predicting unit, and alerting unit. The receiving unit receives from the user terminal the new function ID identifying the new function to be installed on the user terminal, and the installed function IDs identifying one or more functions previously installed on the user terminal. The predicting unit specifies the new function and one or more installed functions based on the new function ID and installed function IDs received by the receiving unit, and predicts the result when the new function is installed on the user terminal. The alerting unit notifies the user terminal of the prediction result of the predicting unit.

摘要: To provide a terminal device capable of independently determining an occurrence of an event, and autonomously processing a service in response to the event. An event detection section (205) detects a predetermined event. A service retrieving section (206) retrieves a service corresponded to the detected event. A service execution section (207) determines an application program related to the retrieved service, and another terminal device which cooperatively executes the application program. Then, the service execution section (207) instructs an application management section (203) and an application execution section (204) of the own terminal device and the other terminal device to obtain and execute the program.

摘要: A memory card 13 includes wireless network communication unit for having electronic equipment to access a storage server 11 on a network. The storage server 11 includes at least a non-authentication area 111. Data such as contents is written into a non-authentication area of the memory card 13 or the non-authentication area 111 of the storage server 11. In other words, an area of a storage area to which data can be written is expanded by the non-authentication area 111 of the storage server 11. Thus, the non-authentication area of the memory card 13 increases apparently. Encoding key used for encoding and decoding contents protected by copyrights is written to an authentication area on the memory card 13. Anyone can access content data in the non-authentication area 111 of the storage server 11, but an encoding key required for decoding the content is in the memory card 13. Thus, only a person who has the memory card 13 and valid electronic equipment can decode, reproduce and output the content using the encoding key. In this way, the storage capacity of the memory card 13 can be increased apparently while security of data protected by copyrights is guaranteed.

摘要: The content copying system pertaining to the present invention is a content copying system in which multiple devices (11-14) cooperate to copy content to a removable recording medium (31). The first device (11) comprises a writing unit for writing first management data which includes content identifiers (hash1˜hash4) to the removable recording medium (31). A second device (12) storing content pieces (ep2, ep4) copies content pieces (ep2, ep4) corresponding to the content identifiers (hash2, hash4) included in the first management data to the removable recording medium (31). Another second device (13) which has a content piece (ep3) stored thereon copies, to the removable recording medium (31), the content piece (ep3) corresponding to the content identifier (hash 3) written to the removable recording medium (31).

摘要: A server stores a media content and an execution program for processing the media content, and determines a usage rule for the media content to be transmitted to a terminal. The server distributes the usage rule, the media content, and the execution program to the terminal. The terminal stores the distributed usage rule, media content, and execution program. The terminal executes the stored execution program and processes the stored media content within the bounds of the usage rule as stored. The server may perform a billing process in accordance with the determined usage rule, or select and distribute a media content or an execution program in accordance with the processing ability of the terminal or a state of communications. Moreover, the server may distribute, in addition to the execution program, middleware for constructing an operating environment for the execution program.

摘要: A system, which minimizes a time delay caused by one device being unable to access a recording medium until access by another device ends, when transcoding is performed by distributed processing, includes a main device transcoding each coded piece allocated to itself from among a plurality of coded pieces of a digital stream, and writing a transcoding result onto the recording medium, in a pipeline. While the recording device is performing the transcoding and the writing, an auxiliary device transcodes each coded piece allocated to itself one by one. Having completed the transcoding of all coded pieces allocated to itself, the auxiliary device transmits its transcoding results to the recording device and has the recording device write the transcoding results onto the recording medium which is a copy destination.

摘要: A player (content searching device) compares an acquired piece primary metadata (with running number 100) to a corresponding piece of primary metadata having number 100 in a memory unit. When no matching occurs, primary metadata with running number 99 is used. Then, this acquired primary metadata is compared to the piece of primary metadata having number 100 in the memory unit. When matching occurs, the player acquires content corresponding to running number 99 from a server and begins playback.
