    摘要: A semiconductor ceramic includes a BamTiO3-based composition, as a main component, having a perovskite structure represented by general formula AmBO3, wherein part of Ba constituting the A site is replaced with Na, Bi, Ca, and a rare-earth element having an ionic radius smaller than that of the Na; the content of the rare-earth element when the total number of moles of the elements constituting the A site is 1 mole is 0.0005 to 0.015 on a molar basis; and the content of the Ca when the total number of moles of the elements constituting the A site is 1 mole is 0.05 to 0.20 (preferably 0.125 or more and 0.175 or less) on a molar basis. A PTC thermistor includes a component body 1 formed of the semiconductor ceramic. Accordingly, high reliability is achieved even if an alkali metal element is present.

    摘要: A semiconductor ceramic material which contains no Pb and has a high Curie point, low resistivity, and PTC characteristics is represented by the formula ABO3 wherein A includes Ba, Ca, an alkali metal element, Bi, and a rare-earth element, and B includes Ti. The semiconductor ceramic material contains 5 to 20 molar parts and preferably 12.5 to 17.5 molar parts of Ca per 100 molar parts of Ti. The ratio of the content of the alkali metal element to the sum of the content of the bismuth plus the content of the rare earth element, is preferably from 1.00 to 1.06. The semiconductor ceramic material preferably further contains 0.01 to 0.2 molar parts of Mn per 100 molar parts of Ti.

    摘要: A barium titanate-based semiconductor ceramic composition and a PTC element that have a high Curie temperature and a low electrical resistivity at room temperature and that exhibit a desired rate of change in resistance are provided. The barium titanate-based semiconductor ceramic composition is a ceramic composition having a perovskite structure containing at least barium and titanium, wherein some of the barium is replaced with an alkali metal element, bismuth, and a rare earth element, and when the content of the titanium is assumed to be 100 parts by mole, a ratio of the content of the alkali metal element to the content of the bismuth plus the content of the rare earth element represented by parts by mole, is 1.00 or more and 1.06 or less. A PTC thermistor includes a ceramic body composed of the barium titanate-based semiconductor ceramic composition having the above feature and electrodes disposed on both side faces of the ceramic body.
