The apparatus has a release agent metering roll supported for contact with a supply of release agent material; a variable speed drive arranged to effect movement of the release agent metering roll in an endless path at different surface velocities; a donor roll supported in contact with the release agent metering roll and the fuser roll, the donor roll arranged to convey release agent material from the release agent metering roll to the fuser roll at various rates depending on a surface velocity of the release agent metering roll; and a controller that controls a velocity of the variable speed drive such that the surface velocity of the release agent metering roll varies relative to a surface velocity of the fuser roll and the engagement and disengagement times at the start and end of the print job. The variable speed drive is operative independently of the fuser roll.

The apparatus can include a pressure roll cooling device configured to cool at least one of the inside paper path portion and the outside paper path portion of the pressure roll to maintain substantially consistent pressure roll flare prior to media sheets entering the fuser nip and while media sheets pass through the fuser nip to provide wrinkle control of media sheets while limiting image smear of the marking material on the media sheets.

An exemplary embodiment of an apparatus useful for printing comprises a first roll; a belt including an inner surface and an outer surface, the first roll and the outer surface of the belt forming a nip; and a stripping member located internal to the belt. The stripping member includes at least a first stripping surface and a second stripping surface having a smaller curvature than the first stripping surface. The stripping member is rotatable to selectively position one of the first stripping surface and the second stripping surface in contact with the inner surface of the belt. The one of the first stripping surface and the second stripping surface facilitates stripping of a medium fed to the nip from the outer surface of the belt.
