摘要： A messaging system includes a messaging platform for storing a message from a calling party or transferring the calling party to a transfer station, a switching mechanism for receiving a call from the calling party to a subscriber, and a routing application at a server. The call from the calling party is connected to the messaging platform and the calling party signals to be transferred to the transfer station. In response, the messaging platform sends a transfer message to the routing application and the routing application directs the switching mechanism to disconnect the calling party from the messaging platform and connect the calling party to the transfer station.

摘要： A messaging system includes a messaging platform storing a message from a calling party, a switching mechanism for receiving a call from a subscriber to access the stored message, and a routing application at a server. The subscriber accesses the message at the messaging platform and signals for a callback connection with the calling party. In response, the messaging platform sends bookmark information to the routing application describing a current state of the messaging platform with regard to the subscriber. The routing application directs the switching mechanism to disconnect the subscriber from the messaging platform and connect the subscriber to the calling party. When the callback connection is completed, the routing application directs that the subscriber be re-connected with the messaging platform and sends the stored bookmark information back to same. The messaging platform employs such bookmark information to re-establish the current state.

摘要： In a call forwarding system, a call from a calling party for a called party is received at a switching device and in response to the received call the switching device issues a request for call processing instructions to a control device. The call processing instructions request is received at the control device and in response to the received request the control device checks with the destination station to determine the availability thereof. The control device returns call processing instructions to the switching device including a telephone number of the destination station if the destination station is available. Similarly, the control device returns alternative call processing instructions to the switching device if the destination station is not available.

The sender's inter-exchange carrier codes are determined and another call leg is created from the service node to the recipient's telephone. After the recipient answers, the service node plays the message (via text-to-speech technology) to the recipient. The inter-exchange carrier codes are used to bill the message service to the sender's billing telephone number.
