Laminated metal plates made of (1) an outer layer of a metal, (2) an intermediate layer of a polymer, (3) an inner layer of a metal, (4) an intermediate layer of a polymer and (5) an outer layer of a metal. It is a characteristic of the invention that the polymer of layers (2) and (4) is a special terpolymer.

A process for bonding or laminating materials by means of terpolymers of ethylene, an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and an ester of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. It is a characteristic of the process that the terpolymers are used with an addition of an organic peroxide having the general formula R1-O-O-R2 or R1-O-O-X-O-O-R2 in which R1 and R2 denote hydrogen atoms or alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl or acyl radicals and X denotes an aliphatic, aromatic, aromatic-aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic radical.

A process for the production of plane building components, comprising relatively thick inner ply of a thermoplastic and relatively thin outer plies of metal. In the process a board is prepared continuously from a polyethylene by means of an extruder at elevated temperature, the board thus obtained is continuously covered on each side first with a film of an ethylene polymer containing carboxyl groups by means of at least one pair of rollers and then with metal sheeting, the whole being made into a sandwich assembly under roller pressure and the plane building component formed being cooled to ambient temperature.

A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PLANE BUILDING COMPONENTS WHICH ARE COMPOSED OF A RELATIVELY THICK INNER PLY OF A THERMOPLASTIC AND RELATIVELY THIN OUTER PLIES OF METAL. IN THE PROCESS A BOARD IS FIRST MADE CONTINUOUSLY FROM A POLYETHYLENE BY MEANS OF A SCREW EXTRUDER AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE THEN THIS BOARD IS COATED ON BOTH SIDES BY MEANS OF A PAIR OF ROLLERS CONTINUOUSLY WITH A FILM OF A SPECIAL TERPOLYMER AND THEREAFTER WITH A SHEET OF METAL. THE WHOLE IS MADE INTO A SANDWICH ASSEMBLY BY THE PRESSURE OF THE ROLLERS AND THEN BROUGHT TO AMBIENT TEMPERATURE.
